Buying a Ride On Car

You’re considering the purchase of a ride on car for your youngster. With so many choices on the market, how to you pick the right one? While there are several approaches, one is to ask plenty of questions before settling on a specific car. Here are four questions that need to be part of the list.

What Type of Battery is Included?

Not all batteries for kids cars are the same. You want one that will hold up well to a lot of use and recharge at a reasonable pace. It helps if the recharging is simple, since you will want to ensure it’s done properly every time.

One solution is to go with a 24 volt ride on that comes with easy recharging instructions. With the best approach, the charge will last for a long time and your child isn’t left frustrated because the battery ran out and there’s nothing else to do.

What Kind of Motor is Used?

The motor is kind of a base for any kid’s car. It is responsible for moving wheels forward and backward. There could be one or two motors in one car normally. If the motor is big enough to power the kid’s electric car, it would probably be installed somewhere around the back wheels. But if the ride on car features two motors then these will be installed around the left and right back wheel.

A ride-on-car with one motor is all right for any normal kid but if a heavy child rides it, the speed will be less. Now before buying, if you feel that your child is in between 40 lbs. to 55 lbs. then 2WD (2 motors) would be ideal. Not only they have a better system to carry the heavy child, but this will help the child maintain a steady speed despite the weight.

What Sort of Surfaces are Safe for Use?

Did you know that not all ride on cars are intended for use on multiple surfaces? You want to go with one that is ideal for the areas where you want to allow your child to ride.

For example, much of the play will take place in the back yard. That means you want one that’s easy to use on grass as well as paved surfaces. This is also true if you plan on taking the car to the park. You’ll want one that’s fine to use on dirt paths and works equally well on grass and any concrete surfaces found there.

What Features Come With the Car?

What features would your child enjoy a lot? Maybe seat belts that come on many 2 seater power wheels is something to think about. Horns that can be set to play different sounds may be good. Windshield wipers or other features that are a lot like the family car will likely attract a lot of interest.

While more features does typically mean a higher price tag, they could also mean that your child enjoys playing with the car more. Since the goal is to ensure your child has something safe to use and that also helps with enhancing motor skills, the extra features will be worth it.

How Do Other Consumers Rate the Car?

As you find a model that seems to be right for your child, check out the ratings and comments found online by other consumers. You can learn a great deal about the car from seeing what others think. In some cases, it may help you sidestep a poor choice.

Look for reviews that indicate the car holds up well to a lot of use, holds the attention of the kids, and is easy to care for. If most of the reviews are glowing and none seem to point in the direction of recurring problems, that car might be ideal for your child.

Remember that the goal is to invest in something that your child will love. Take your time, ask all the questions that you want, and make sure you’re happy with the choice. In the long run, you and your child will be a lot happier.
