The Top 10 Weirdest Spa Treatments That Actually Exist!

Beauty treatments continue to gain popularity among women and men, and beauty experts around the world continue to introduce new spa treatments. I have to say, some of these are truly bizarre! So, who's getting these treatments, and why? Do they actually work or are they just some marketing ploy? I have no idea! Regardless, check out these weird and wacky indulgences!

Number 1 - Bird Poo Facial Treatment Some beauty experts claim that bird poop contains exfoliating compounds that supposedly refine skin texture. Particularly, nightingale droppings. They have some pretty powerful enzymes that help break down dead skin cells, which is supposed to give the complexion a wonderful warm glow. I’ll be honest… I don’t really care what kind of magic bird shit can do. It’s not going anywhere near my face! No worries though; the poop is first sanitized with an ultraviolet light.

Number 2 - Thai Face Slapping Massage If you’re into pain and humiliation, this might be your thing and a great treatment for you! The Thai Face Slapping Technique consists of pinching and manipulating and lightly slapping the skin, which is thought to restore a more youthful appearance. Thai Face Slapping is supposed to increases circulation, unblock energy, and it’s said to be a stimulating, anti-aging practice meant to smoothen wrinkles and shrink the pores.

Number 3 - Snail Facial You know the the slimy trail that snails leave behind? Believe it or not, this distasteful secretion can be used to help moisturize your skin! A snail's 14,000 microscopic teeth produce a slight, reportedly "not unpleasant" scratching when it crawls on the surface of your face. As a result, it leaves you with a more youthful glow.

Number 4 - Hay Body Spa Treatment There's nothing like a roll in the hay to make you feel like a new person… This crazy spa treatment consists of hot, wet, herb-infused mountain hay on top of your body as you lay back and relax on a waterbed. The idea here is to open up your pores, relax your body, and even relieve pain. Sounds like heaven...

Number 5 - Bull Semen Hair Treatment Yes, you heard that correctly. It may sound a bit strange, but people actually put this stuff on their hair to make it soft and shiny. Apparently it is supposed to strengthen the hair shaft promoting hair growth. This kind of treatment is for those daring souls willing to try anything. I’ll just take their word for it…

Number 6 - 24K Pure Gold Mask The price of gold is always on the rise, but now the yellow metal - which is known to be a great anti-inflammatory - can be found in a pricey facial as well. This is the ultimate luxurious anti-aging treatment! This "rich" mask is infused with Pure 24K Gold to help improve the appearance of your skin. According to spa VIPs, the treatment hydrates, lifts and firms, fights free radicals, lightens and brightens and leaves a golden glow.

Number 7 - Beer Bath Minerals in water combined with beer are said to be good for your hair, skin, nails and blood circulation. And, usually while you’re soaking at one of these spas, you also get to enjoy a complementary mug of lager. In addition, this strange treatment is actually performed by a nurse specializing in beer therapy. I had no idea that there was such thing as a nurse specializing in beer therapy… So, if a milk bath is a bit too tame for you, then perhaps a 20-minute soak in a beer bath is more your style.

Number 8 - Leech Therapy Leeches are known as blood sucking little parasites. Nonetheless, leech therapy has a long history. Ancient Egyptian doctors once considered it a cure-all. Today, they are sometimes used in plastic and reconstructive surgery to assist in the reattachment of severed body parts. But, leech therapy is also used to help detoxify the body. The technique involves placing leeches on your face or body, letting them suck out some blood and then smearing it all over. Practitioners claim that it helps achieve tighter and brighter skin.

Number 9 - Fish Nibble Pedicure Yes, this is a real spa treatment. This treatment was first utilized by Turkish salons, but the practice has become much more prevalent in recent years. Because the tiny little creatures have no teeth, they’re really just nibbling at dead skin; they can’t actually bite you, so you don’t have to worry about pain. While it may initially tickle a bit, most people actually find this treatment very soothing. If you can get beyond the creepiness factor, and you’re looking for something weird and different, then this just may be the perfect treatment for you!

Number 10 - Cactus Massage The Hakali cactus massage begins with a hydrating light pressure massage using sage tequila lotion. Then the cactus paddles are applied directly onto your skin. Rest assured, the cactus needles are removed for this massage, so chances are, it’ll feel better than you might expect. The plant is well-known for its healing properties. It remove toxins and rehydrates skin. And perhaps, it leave you with a heck of a story to tell your friends!
