10 Ways to Reduce Costs

Don’t get me started on the gas prices. It is too expensive. We drive up to the gas station and can't believe our eyes. So, let us talk about finances and cutting costs to make gas affordable. Here is a list of ten things to cut out of your life to make things a little more affordable for you.

1. Streaming services.

As much as it hurts, cutting out Netflix, Crave and Disney+ can positively impact your bank account. Netflix prices have risen astronomically since they began about twenty dollars a month. Crave is great for watching television shows such as Friends Or Frasier That no longer airs on television; however, The excellent idea is to optimize your costs by sharing your account with someone else, charging for it and spitting the price.

2. Starbucks and Tim Hortons.

I work in healthcare, and the number of employees I see them clenching their Starbucks cup or Tims coffee to fill their caffeine addiction is phenomenal. It is so easy to make coffee on your own, yet one can spend up to 100$ a month on coffee. Yes, 100$ that is enough to buy a Keurig and make your coffee at home, buy a reusable mug and take it to work. You will not only save your money but the environment as well.

3. Grocery lists.

Yes, we all need to eat to survive. But sometimes, when you step into that grocery store, you forget why you were there in the first place. One thing to know is that you should never enter that place with a gurgling stomach. It will prevent you from buying items you do not need to have in your home. An example of it would be chips or unnecessary snacks in your diet. You will be saving your body and your wallet.

4. Budget-friendly trips.
Last-minute deals are one of the best things you will come across. You should also create a separate account for trips to save money there from time to time. If you consider your travel expenses beforehand, it can make it much easier to enjoy your vacation.

5. Kick the name brands to the curb.

While grocery shopping, you see the Tim Hortons hot chocolate, and then you see the no-name brand. Tom Hortons costs about two dollars more, but here's the catch: they have the same ingredients. I've read the back myself, and it happens to be true. People fall for that all the time.

6. Cut the shopping apps.

Amazon, Simons and any other app that even tempts you to buy things need to be deleted from your phone. You will be less tempted to buy clothing or Amazon finds. During these days it is so easy to spend your money with a swipe or click of your side button it gets bought and your husband judges you for the pile of boxes outside your door. It can reduce your costs dramatically if you cut them apps from your phone.

7. Emails and spam.

Oh the companies know that if they send you a free coupon in exchange for your email, you will buy it because who could pass up such a great deal? Old navy has a “limited time sale” but that is the biggest joke of all…they ALWAYS have a sale. You do not need those emails jinking up your email.

8. Phone plans.

Shop around phone plans some of them are 100$ a month for unlimited data and talk, but there are budget friendly plans out there with no contract!! I pay less than 30$ a month for my phone plan and it’s great for the value I get. I never have issues with connection. I recommend Public Mobile for anyone that wants to cut their costs.

9. A library cards and e-readers.

I am an avid reader. I read about six books a month. I spent so much money on books... I could quickly get them from the library and return them. It is so easy to save money on that. Just make a library day once a week and it'll be worth it. However, certs in books you need to wait for, but instead of physical copies, get an e-reader, especially if you are like me and read a lot.

10. Decluttering and Selling.

Facebook Marketplace is a great place to get rid of the things you do not need. selling items online could not be easier. There are places such as Poshmark or consignment stores, and you can get a lot back. If the object does not give you joy, you do not need it. Marie Kondo knows what she is doing.

Hopefully, but by a bit, you can start these minor changes are that your bank account will be fat and happy.
