Wyndham Rewards Has Reopened Its Status Match Program, Matching Up To Diamond Level

Wyndham Rewards has officially reopened the status match program where tier members of competing programs can match all the way up to Wyndham Diamond status

After quite a long hiatus, Wyndham Rewards has officially reopened the status match program where tier members of competing programs can match all the way up to Wyndham Diamond status.

The match is valid for 90 days, during which members have to complete a certain number of nights corresponding to their matched elite status in order to extend it for another year.

Wyndham Rewards comes with certain benefits that are attractive, especially the partnership with Caesars Rewards for visitors to Las Vegas and other Caesars resort destinations.

Tier levels available for matches is Wyndham Gold, Platinum & Diamond:

Eligible programs to match from are Best Western, Choice, Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, Marriott, Omni, and Radisson.

Officially, Caesars Rewards says that the Diamond level will not be conferred if you obtained your Wyndham status through a status match:

You must have earned Tier Status with your current loyalty program in order for your status to be matched. Members must re-apply if qualified for a status match starting on 2/1 of every year. Caesars Rewards will not grant status to WR members who came into the WR program from a tier match promotion with other programs or who previously had recent Caesars Rewards status that was about to expire, and vice versa. Qualified accounts will be upgraded within 2 weeks from the time of request.

I’m unable to independently verify that at this point. It might still work (as it did in the past) or it might not but officially this match wouldn’t qualify for the Wyndham to Caesars Diamond tag-on.

Either way, this is how the match for Wyndham Rewards itself will be facilitated:

Entry tiers will usually be matched to Gold, Mid-tier to Platinum, and top tier to Diamond based on this chart.

I would check how many nights you’ll actually be able to stay with Wyndham and which benefit is desired and then request a match to the corresponding level. Unless you plan to use it as a short-term benefit to stay and then dump the account, in which case you could just go for the highest tier available to you. Diamond does come with suite upgrades after all.

But it’s a difference to stay 4 nights or ten nights in order to extend the status beyond the 90 days.

Conclusion

Wyndham closed down their status match program quite a few years ago and it wasn’t available ever since. It just reopened and now members can match all the way to Diamond which is the most lucrative level that also confers suite upgrades to tier members.

I didn’t complete the match at this point as I don’t have any Wyndham affiliated stays coming up. If you do so, we’d like to hear from readers how fast they are currently processing these match requests.

These are the terms & conditions for this status match campaign:
