Every time you scroll through any social media platform you’re bound to see the latest viral article that is making the rounds. If you’re an artist or a writer, a viral article can bring a huge amount of visibility to your work or business.

Vocal and Medium are two platforms that allow you to publish high quality, great looking articles without having to mess around with domain names or hosting fees. These days everyone needs to have a healthy web presence, and publishing platforms make it easy for everyone.

Vocal has only been around for a few years, but it has quickly surpassed Medium as the best publishing platform available. In this article we’ll explore the main reasons why you need to switch to Vocal!

Earn Cash From Your Articles

When you publish an article on Vocal, you’re paid per click. You can create an account for free and start earning today! If you already have a large social media following, it’s easy to get a lot of attention for your Vocal articles.

The basic pay rate is $3.80 for 1,000 visits. However, if you upgrade to the Vocal+ membership for a small monthly fee, the rate jumps to $6.00 for 1,000 visits along with several other great benefits.

Remember, when articles go viral they can easily generate hundreds of thousands or even millions of views. The earning potential is high, and the cost of Vocal+ is much lower than web fees and design expenses.

Earn Cash Prizes With Challenges

In January of 2020, Vocal introduced Challenges. Challenges are writing competitions available to Vocal+ members that pay out three places and boast top prizes ranging from $2,500 to $5,000. Since January, they’ve released a new challenge every few weeks. All you have to do is read the prompt, write a qualifying article, and submit.

The thing that makes Vocal Challenges so appealing is that the prizes are huge and there are minimal entries. This gives you a much better chance of getting noticed than you will receive from other online contests. You can enter as many times as you want with your Vocal+ membership making Vocal Challenges far more economical than other writing contests.

You don’t have to take too much time perusing Submittable to see how expensive writing contests can be. Also, if you’re submitting to a contest with two or three thousand entries, you have a dramatically lower chance of winning.

It makes more sense to upgrade to the Vocal+ membership than it does to sink money into online writing contests with literary journals. Vocal+ allows you to make more money on your writing AND gives you a monthly shot at $2,500 to $5,000.

Vocal Challenges might sound too good to be true, but I can attest that they are legit. I was fortunate enough to have my article The Perfect Family Selfie chosen as the 3rd place finisher for the Mobile Moments Challenge. My prize payment arrived promptly and I saw a nice uptick in visits because of the publicity Vocal provided.

Vocal Has a System For Tips

Vocal’s tips are an absolutely fantastic addition to online publishing platforms. Tips allow readers to send a one time cash payment to the authors of stories they really enjoy. I’ve received a variety of tips and the gesture always brightens my day.

If you are lucky enough to have an article selected as a Vocal Staff Pick, you receive a ten dollar tip and your story will appear on the Vocal home page giving it a significant traffic boost. Tips are a great asset for writers and a fantastic way for the general public to support emerging voices.

If you find an author you like and want to read more, you can provide a huge amount of encouragement with a tip. Our society tends to marginalize many voices and perspectives, so finding an article that speaks to you on any platform is a momentous occasion. Tips offer readers a chance to influence the kind of ideas that can help reshape our culture.

Vocal Likes

At the bottom of every Vocal article you’ll see a little heart shape. This is a like button that provides authors with feedback on their work. Likes are a free way for readers to provide a little bit of much needed encouragement.

All you have to do to like the stories of Vocal authors is sign up for a free account. You can register with your Facebook, Twitter, or Google profile and it costs you absolutely nothing. If you really love a story, you can share with the Facebook and Twitter buttons.

Every writer needs a pat on the back. Clicking the heart at the end of a Vocal article provides more of a boost than you can imagine.

Intuitive Interface

Operating your own web page requires a significant amount of technical understanding. Chances are you don’t have the time to tinker with a thousand little settings to get the columns and spacing of your personal page looking exactly the way you want it to.

With Vocal, publishing an article is as simple as writing an email. The format takes only a moment to learn, and soon you’ll be pumping out beautiful articles that are probably more professional looking than the digital version of your local paper.

Get Vocal and Express Yourself

Whether you are an aspiring artist or writer, or you just want a place to publish an occasional opinion piece, Vocal is a great choice. The budding community offers plenty of support, and you have the opportunity to make money on your writing.

Writers often produce quality articles that don’t fit within the narrow demands of professional publications. Just because these publications have an agenda, does not mean you shouldn’t be able to make some money on your unique perspective. Once you’ve made a round of submissions, don’t just put your article in a drawer. Put it on Vocal, and you might be surprised to discover that there is a lot more support out there for your viewpoint than you ever would have thought possible.

Don’t wait, express yourself on Vocal today!
