1. Freelancing

Freelancing is probably the easiest way to make money online. There are many platforms that offer a spot for you to show your skills and get paid for it.

Some of us are good writers and others are talented designers. No matter what skill you have you will find a lot of options to show your work and start making money right away.

Pros and Cons of Freelancing:

Pros:

  1. You are your own boss (Which applies for all methods).
  2. Huge marketplace.
  3. Many potential customers.
  4. Working from home.

Cons:

  1. Jobs are not always available.
  2. Managing different types of customers.
  3. Requires a lot of effort to get a customer base.
  4. Commissions rates for platforms are considered to be a bit high.

To see different platforms for freelancing I recommend that you start with searching google for: Freelancing.

2. Blogging

A blog is a discussion or informational website published on the Web consisting of discrete, often informal diary-style posts.

One example of a typical blog is our website www.mendoors.com. You basically create your website and start posting about topics that might interest other people.

The key thing about blogging is to generate traffic to your website so you can start making income. I suggest you look for topics that a lot of people are interested at so you can generate enough traffic for you to start making money.

Pros and Cons of Blogging

Pros of blogging:

  1. Requires no technical background.
  2. It’s a clear path to make money online.
  3. Teaches you a lot of stuff. Where you need to learn so you can teach.
  4. Gives a feeling of satisfaction when you know that people are reading what write and follow what you recommend.

Cons of blogging:

  1. Finding your niche as a blogger can be a bit difficult.
  2. Takes a lot of time to research and write
  3. Requires a lot of patience to generate traffic to your blog.
  4. You are responsible for everything you type. (so be careful please!)

3. YouTube

I am going to assume that all of you are familiar with the famous platform YouTube. YouTubers can make a ton of money if they have the content that most people want to see.

Technically speaking, all you need to do is to start a channel and fill that channel with content that people are interested in.

Pros and Cons of YouTube

Pros of YouTube:

  1. YouTube averages about 35.1B visits per month, so the audience is basically infinite.
  2. Most people watch a ton of videos each day.
  3. There is always an audience for your content (no matter what it is).
  4. Work from home (obviously).

Cons of YouTube:

Making and editing your videos takes a lot of time to accomplish.

  1. Camera shy people don’t really fit in unless you make content where you don’t have to show your face on a camera.
  2. Requires a lot of patience to see results in most cases.
  3. Requires some investment in shooting video tools (camera, tripod, etc.) in case you are trying to show your face.

4. Transcription

Transcription is probably the most direct and easy way to make money online. The only thing you need to do is to listen to prerecorded audio and transform it into written text.

Pros and Cons of Transcription

Pros of Transcription:

  1. Easy task
  2. You get paid per audio minute. For example, a minute of audio on a certain website is about 0.3 dollars and on anther is 0.25.
  3. No tools required but a headphone and a keyboard.
  4. Work from home.

Cons of transcription:

  1. You need to know the language you are “transcripting” really well.
  2. You might face some foreign accents of the language you are dealing with (it can be a bit frustrating).
  3. Transcription platforms are not so clear on some points while doing your job. For example, there is no clear solution for a word that you didn’t understand followed by a word that cannot be heard on many platforms.
  4. There many people using these platforms to earn money, so the competition on the job is high.

5. User Interface Testing

Testing user interface online is a very interesting and rewarding way to make money online. All is required is that you test a user interface for a certain customer and follow with the tasks they provide you with on a task list that shows up while you are doing your job. They record your audio screen and your cursor movement, and they send it to the customer so the customer can take your feedback on their user interface.

Pros and Cons of User Interface Testing

Pros of User Interface Testing:

  1. It’s simple, you test the website as a random user.
  2. No extra equipment is required other than what most of you already have (headphone, mic, mouse, and keyboard).
  3. Great experience for you if you decide to make a website one day. You’d already have the knowledge on how to setup your user interface and make as friendly as possible.
  4. It pays very well considering the time spent on it. The average amount you earn per one test is about 20$.
  5. You can provide your testing services on mobile, desktop, tablet, etc. (depends on what the customer needs).

Cons of User Interface Testing:

The market is too crowded with testers (I get to review two websites only each month!).

6. Surveys

Last but not least, surveys. Surveys are forms that you fill with your real information and these forms are provided mostly by companies to collect data and make research.

Pros and Cons of Surveys

Pros of surveys:

  1. Probably the easiest task on planet earth.
  2. It takes almost no time to fill one survey.
  3. No skills required.
  4. So many platforms are dedicated to this kind of jobs.

Cons of surveys:

First come first hired. You need to be quick with clicking on the survey to have a chance.

  1. You are not eligible for all surveys. When you sign up to these platforms, they ask you for certain information about yourself, and based on this information they decide whether you are eligible for this survey or not.
  2. It pays basically cents per survey.
  3. You are limited with a certain number of surveys per day.

Final word of advice

Whatever you chose to do from the methods mentioned above, it’s always better to try them yourself so you can have a clear vision about that job or the other. Don’t be disappointed if you don’t make money in the first two days, it requires time and dedication.
