Mind of a millionaire: exercise one and two

Exercise two:

Do not do this next technique while driving or operating machinery. Do it when you can safely relax. Close your eyes and think of someone you wish to emulate.

They might have a job you wish you had, and a house you would like. They might be someone you know, or someone you have read about or seen on television.

Think of a time when they were doing something that you would like to do - maybe you saw them driving their sports car, or launching their latest business venture. See it from the start through to the finish. Do this several times, if it helps, do it once in slow motion.

Now, go over to your role model and step into them, like putting on a new suit of clothes, and run through the memory of them doing that action. Then do it again, this time noticing more. When you've finished, step back out, thank your role model and take your learnings with you.

Here are the five best ideas I can give you on how to start increasing your wealth today. Any one of these will make a difference. As you start using them, you'll move even faster towards a wealthier life, the millionaire's mind.

• Save first, then spend what you can truly afford. I know it sounds obvious, but poor people do the opposite. You need to have a plan and stick to it.

• Come up with a plan to clear any outstanding debts, and reduce your debt month by month. Some people find it helpful to write down everything they spend money on.

• Study wealthy people. Find out what they are doing and you aren't. Understand how they think and behave towards money and wealth.

• Ask for help. I find that, so long as you are polite and respectful, most people are willing to help. Asking also makes other people aware of who you are and lets them know you take yourself seriously. It's a sign of self-worth.

Many of the successful people I know have said to me they wish that more people had the courage to ask for their advice.

• Continually stretch yourself. Dare to dream and think big. Don't take unnecessary risks, but take a leap of faith. You can either choose a life of getting by and surviving or you can push the boundaries.

Highly successful people are continually stretching themselves - moving out of the comfort zone.

It's easy to become complacent and get stuck. If you look for bigger challenges, you continue growing. It's important to have big dreams so you can grow into them.

• Become comfortable with money. Get used to having it on you. This sends an important message to yourself. One technique I used was to practise writing out cheques and paying in slips for millions of dollars until I felt comfortable doing it.

Far too many people are scared by large sums of money. They're not ready to accept the responsibility of huge wealth.

When you get more money, your financial pressures don't get smaller, they get bigger, but you have to be prepared to accept that.

Imagine what it's like, so when you start getting wealthier, it's not overwhelming.

How to have the mind of a millionaire???

We all know that money isn't everything, and that family, friends and good health are far more important than wealth. But that doesn't mean there is anything wrong with wanting to be rich. I've found that most wealthy, successful people tend to employ the same simple habits and beliefs about prosperity. However, the same applies to poverty, too. I believe that many people help to keep themselves poor through the beliefs and habits they have towards money.

They have affirmed, often unconsciously, that they are poor, and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy - a poverty consciousness. I'd like to share with you some techniques I used that helped me dramatically increase my personal financial wealth. I decided to do things differently. Years ago, I had a poverty consciousness, worrying constantly about being poor or how not to be poor. When a bill arrived, I'd worry about how I was going to pay it - I'd feel poor inside.

Obviously, it's important to be financially organised and to consider how best to pay bills. But, I was also affirming to my unconscious mind a poverty belief. If you're going to be wealthy, it's just as important to prepare for wealth by feeling rich inside. So I vividly imagined I had thousands of pounds in the bank. You can imagine how good that feels. I was sending a new message to my unconscious.

Some people try saying affirmations, such as: 'I am truly wealthy.' You have to create the feeling of wealth by vividly imagining yourself as wealthy again and again. Next, I needed to change my self image around money. I had a scruffy little cheque book, one that reflected my scruffy little finances at the time. So I changed banks and got a clean new one.

The mind is sensitive, so it's important to signal to yourself that positive changes are happening. Then the real fun began. I needed to get a strong sense of what greater wealth would be like. So I got an old bank statement, cut it up, removing the bit that said 'overdrawn', re-arranged the figures and glued it back together, showing thousands in credit. As soon as I'd finished, I burst out laughing. Actually holding it in my hands, it began to feel more real.

I also made a scrap book, collecting pictures of things I wanted, places I wanted to visit, people I wanted to meet. The mind needs a sensory-rich experience of what you want to achieve. I went into a Mercedes showroom, sat in a car to get comfortable, smelled the leather, went for a test drive, imagined it was my own. I took away a brochure and imagined driving the car every day.

Pretty soon, my mind was focused on getting one. It wasn't long before a bargain came along and I bought my first Mercedes. A FRIEND of mine was totally inspired by this type of creative visualisation. He'd never been abroad and he really wanted to go, but didn't have the finances. He collected a bunch of travel brochures, cut out the pictures of all the places he wanted to go and stuck them in his scrapbook.

Amusingly, he packed his suitcase every Sunday, for a month, and went to the airport. Then he would watch a video about travelling on Concorde. He really gave his unconscious the experience of travelling to and enjoying exotic locations. Then he was called in to his boss's office and asked if he would become their international representative. His boss explained it would mean travelling all over the world. My friend could hardly believe it.

Most amazing of all, when he arrived at a small village in Switzerland he began to get a feeling of deja vu. It was only when he checked his scrapbook that he found it was the exact village he had pictures of. Extraordinary as it may seem, I have witnessed many such occurrences-similar to this. It's as if the mind may have the ability to attract events, things or people.

I began to wonder if it could be possible to attract money. But how do you do it? It's very simple, but it does take regular practice. You are going to need to rehearse being wealthy, act it like a method actor and get into the part.
