Your Password
Introduction This is an article I originally published on my Seven Days In blog in August 2018 about passwords and security. This week Apple TV asked by to sign in on my TV and went along asking for codes sent to my phone and email, then asked me for my birthday, said my details were wrong and gave me no other option to progress. Eventually, after two days of messing about, it let me on again. It doesn't cost me anything, but it is annoying as I am watching "Severance", "Your Friends And Neighbours" and "Bad Sisters".

The Border Tea Stall
**How Pakistan and India Gained Independence** The story of the independence of Pakistan and India begins in the early part of the 20th century when India was under British rule. The British Raj brought numerous hardships for the common people, leading them to start the struggle for freedom. **Preparation for India’s Independence:** The first glimpse of independence was seen in the revolt of 1857, which was perceived as a difficult time against the British government. This rebellion ignited a desire for freedom among the people, but the British government suppressed it completely. After this, political parties like the Congress and the All India Muslim League began to form, working for the rights and independence of the people. **Political Developments:** In 1919, the Jallianwala Bagh incident occurred, where the British army brutally opened fire on thousands of people. This event further agitated the masses. Mahatma Gandhi promoted movements like 'Satyagraha,' relying on non-violence and non-cooperation to advocate for independence. **Muslim League and the Demand for Independence:** During the 1920s, the All India Muslim League, led by Muhammad Ali Jinnah, began the demand for a separate nation. Muslims from around the world joined this movement, strengthening the demand for Pakistan. **Preparation for Partition:** In the Lahore Resolution of 1940, the concept of Pakistan was introduced. With the backdrop of the second world wars, the British government realized that they needed to leave India. During this time, in 1947, the British declared the date for India's independence. However, there was a major issue: the conflict between Hindu and Muslim populations in India. **Independence and Partition:** On August 15, 1947, India was divided into two countries - India and Pakistan. This partition came with a painful separation. Muslim-majority areas were designated as Pakistan, while territories with Hindu majorities became India. **Challenges for the New Nations:** During this partition, many faced violence and displacement. Approximately 14 million people had to migrate, and during this migration, thousands lost their lives; it was a horrific and painful chapter. **In Conclusion:** Both Pakistan and India gained independence, but their paths were not easy. The partition led to growing animosity and tension between the two nations.
