The Strait of Hormuz, the Economic Soul of the world
The effects of the Iran war are obvious: gas prices hovering above $4, mortgage rates climbing, and shipping surcharges adding to the cost of living. But beyond the immediate financial pain, the conflict has altered the global economy in lasting ways. Iran’s effective control of the Strait of Hormuz, transforming it from a free passage into a regulated, toll-based chokepoint, has forced the world to adapt. Similarly, my own life has been reshaped by the "war" of my past. The trauma of childhood abuse, the bullying, and the arrogance that ended my nine-year relationship created a chokepoint in my emotional supply chain. For years, I tried to force my way through, paying high tolls in lies and secrecy. But now, I am learning to navigate this strait differently. I am no longer trying to bypass my pain; I am learning to regulate my passage through it, paying the toll of honesty to ensure safe transit.
