Dust is one of the problems in the house that seems never-ending even though the house has been cleaned regularly. Dust can enter the house through the dirt that comes from our bodies, fabric fibers, food scraps, and even air pollution. When you open your house windows and wish for fresh air to come –unfortunately, it also means that you are welcoming the most undesirable object to your house, dust. Dust tends to accumulate on objects and areas that are susceptible to exposure, including floors, windows, curtains, and furniture.

In addition to making the house dirty, the presence of dust in the house also makes the air quality inside turns bad, which ultimately could affect our health, especially for children and those who have respiratory disorders such as asthma and allergies.

Dusting your house only with feather dusters does not clean the area. It merely moves the dust to other areas rather than picking it up. If you do not utilize the correct equipment and cleaning techniques, you may spend hours dusting your entire house, and still, it won't make a change.

To know how to clean and keep dust away from your home effectively, read the step-by-step below. Guaranteed your house will be spotlessly clean when you are done!

Gather the right supplies

Here is some equipment you might need to have on hand to get rid of the dust in your room effectively:

● Microfiber cloth

● Bar mop towel

● All-purpose cleaner

● Glass cleaner

● Vacuum

Work from top to bottom

You might be tempted to dust the first item you come across in your line of sight. But well, don't do that! To effectively clean an area, there is a strategy to do it. One of the most effective strategies is by cleaning from top to bottom. Make sure that all the dust from the top has fallen to the bottom before you do the final sweep of the lower area in your house. Get your microfiber and then spray it with your all-purpose cleaner to dampen it, before using it to gently wipe down high surfaces.

Wash the pillows

Pillows are one of the favorite places for dust mites to cling into, this is because dust mites like to feast on dead skin cells. These animals are so small they can't be seen, but hundreds of mites can live on just one gram of dust. To get rid of dust and dust mites, wash your pillow at least three times a year with hot water.

Clean the carpet

Carpet fibers are one of the favorite breeding grounds for dust. You can use a vacuum cleaner to clean your carpet, or if you don’t have one –you can take them outdoors and shake them well to remove most of the dirt and dust that stick to the carpet. Both this method is effective in removing dust from your carpet.

Getting rid of unused items

Too many items in the room will make it more difficult to remove the pile of dust in your house. What you can do is identify which one you want to get rid of, and you can store those unused items and displays in sealed boxes.

Piles of magazines, newspapers, and books also need to be cleaned up. If you like to collect books, place them in a closed bookcase so it doesn't get exposed to too much dust.

Wipe the furniture with microfiber

Clean the furniture, home appliances, and also decorations in your house with wet microfiber. To effectively get rid of dust, after you mop it with a wet microfiber –do a final sweep with a dry one. Your house furniture, and decorations such as photo frames, paintings, and wall decorations will look dull if they are rarely cleaned.

Mop the house

Sweeping or vacuuming the floor sometimes just moves the dust from one place to another, it doesn’t get rid of it. Wet mopping the house, on the other hand, can help to get rid of the dust in your house. So make sure that you always mop the house, after you sweep or vacuum it.

Cleaning the air filter

If you use an air conditioner, you should also schedule regular cleaning for the air filter. Dust will continue to circulate in the room if the air conditioning filter is never replaced or cleaned. You will also need to replace the air filter with a higher quality one if you have an old air conditioning system.

Use an air purifier

Using an air purifier is also a good way to deal with flying dust particles. An air purifier can help to prevent dust from sticking in the house. If you choose air purifiers with elegant designs, they can also be used as a house decoration.

To have a dust-free house, we advise you to do a simple cleaning and dusting at least once a month. To do a more thorough cleaning, such as cleaning the ceiling, windows, and each of the furniture at your house, you can do it every six months. But if you are too tired or busy to do a thorough cleaning of your house, you can hire a house cleaning service to make sure that you can still have a clean and healthy home.
