Sofia Richie is the new IT girlie

Her wedding has us all in a chokehold

It's only been about 48 hours since Sofia Richie has been on my radar but I, like many others, am now suddenly obsessed and in adoration.

Initially I wasn't sure who this person was - Sofia Richie?! - The last name, of course, reminded me of Lionel and Nicole - Nicole, of which, I am more familiar with via The Simple Life (as a Millennial). And immediately I thought, "Is she Nicole Richie's sister?!"

Then upon further scrolling I learned that oh yes, I do know who Sofia Richie is - she was also Scott Disick's ex-girlfriend, and yes I have seen her on KUWTK though it barely registered that this was the exact same person!

Her glow-up is the celebration of the moment. Her upgrade from Scott Disick (let alone, Justin Bieber!) to her now husband Elliot Grainge is the Cinderalla story we've all been waiting for.

And yet, yes, she is a "Nepo Baby" --- but obviously the current favourite of all Nepo Babies.

Where is the relatability in her having such a fairy tale for us to swoon over?

It's the suffering that is caused by toxic boyfriends, a la Bieber and Disick, and the "I was once young and stupid" hindsight that many women share (not that I've seen her speak on it, we as fans are simply projecting). War stories of the long drawn battles. "What an idiot!" (sense of self-deprecation) and then we celebrate with the real win, a real man, a good man --- Mr Elliot Grainge.

It's the story of Jane Austen novels. It's the glimmer of hope in this "Cost of Living Crisis" economy that we're all looking for. Even though she was already rich, even though she was already a Nepo baby --- her relatability is in that emotional tug, of previously falling for the "just not right for you" guys. And then finally making the best choice for her.

Elliot is her soul mate. We all immediately agree.

And then on top of that --- the Chanel dresses, the south of France, the Lionel Richie as your Father! --- so many ingredients for a Disney worthy fairy tale narrative that we simply indulge in living vicariously through.

This is the type of public opinion/reactions that the Kardashians wished their new Hulu show inspired.

With Sofia Richie, it all looks so effortless. She makes it all look graceful and elegant. There is a form of humility in "quiet luxury" --- it's not taking center stage, it's not in your face "Look at me!!!" --- it's like, "Hey. I'm here. I don't need to say too much for you to know that I'm classy."

And the best thing about this level of style is that there is a way to mimic it on a budget. There is a simplicity to it that the economical girlies can aspire to and even DIY at home if needed. (Maybe not the Chanel embroidery though, unless embroidery is your hobby!)

The star studded guest list of this wedding is also a delight --- Paris Hilton! Good Charlotte, Nicole Richie, Cameron Diaz, Stephen Sanchez actually singing "Until I found you" --- literally fairy tale magic and stardust come to life.

And Sofia herself. In her own understated way. She has exuded a likeability that is classic "girl next door" --- she could be your classmate at school, she could be your new friendly co-worker, she could be a new friend you made at the gym --- and the way she treats the Chanel dressmakers, the way she talks to the camera, it's all so effortless and seemingly authentic. We want to be her friend. We feel like we're a part of her wedding week and are so grateful she's invited us along.

Vogue and Chanel have really curated a spectacular wedding event. And I wouldn't be surprised if Sofia's multi-talented friends and family helped as well with the creative direction and flawless execution.

She's our new Queen.
