I’m always fascinated by entrepreneurs and their way of life. Recently, I had the opportunity to talk to one of the best serial entrepreneurs from the US. His name is Vijai Bhatti. He is popularly known for being the CEO of Care As One, a job portal for senior care workers. He owns multiple companies and invests in various sectors. His entrepreneurial journey is inspirational and there are a lot of lessons you get to learn from him.

During our interaction, I asked him about the essential skills for entrepreneurship. In this article, I am going to share with you exactly what he said about the things that you must have to become an entrepreneur.

The first skill that you must have as an entrepreneur is organisation. No one is going to be successful as a business owner unless they are organized. A lot of times when people start a business, they don't even know what they need to know about organizing. In fact, when I began as an entrepreneur, there were so many things that I had to learn to organize.

The second skill that you must have as an entrepreneur is leadership skill. No one is going to run a successful business without learning how to deal effectively with the people they are surrounding themselves with. As an entrepreneur, you have the ability to utilize your resources as well as your people. If you want to be successful, you have to understand the intentions and directions of the people you are working with. People skills are the foundation of any enterprise and if you want to take your business to the next level, you must learn how to deal with people.

The third skill that you need to become a successful entrepreneur is sales skill. There is no successful entrepreneur in the world that doesn't know how to sell. If you want to make it big, you have to learn how to persuade people and get them to understand the value of what it is that you are offering. A lot of times people are afraid of sales because they don't understand it.

They feel like it's a manipulative process where they have to change themselves with another person so that they can force them to buy. However, it is not at all like that. In fact, selling is just like serving. If someone walks into your shop or reaches out to you on the internet, with an inquiry about your service, you are serving them by showing them exactly what they need. It is up to you how you articulate to the prospect what kind of product they are getting and the price they are willing to pay for. Once you are able to do it, that's when you serve them and that's when you make the sales in order to keep the business going.

The fourth skill that you need as an entrepreneur is mathematical skills. If you don't know how to compute numbers in your mind, it can lead to trouble. You are going to have so many opportunities where you may need to understand and apply mathematics to take your business forward. If you want to become a multi-millionaire entrepreneur, master the art of numbers.

The fifth skill that you must have as an entrepreneur is emotional intelligence. If you understand exactly how you think and how you feel, you are going to understand exactly how to react to the environment and how to change your emotions. If you want to work on your emotional intelligence, you must become aware of everything you are facing right now. It means that you must have self-management over your affairs. You must be disciplined. You must be focused.
