Hello,

My name is teisha leshea, and I'm the administrator for Vocal Creators Saloon. I gave birth to this group because I was blocked from another group for being "overly engaged." That situation allowed me to jump ship and create my community of writers.

On February 13, 2021, at 2:30 a.m., my baby was born. I was excited and confused because I didn't have a clue about what I was doing. I must admit that my enthusiasm for the group didn't translate to some members like I would've liked but, this has been a process. Since creating the group, a few other Vocal groups started to populate. I welcome them all. It gives Vocal members a variety when choosing a community that best suits them.

Disclaimer: Word of mouth is good but sometimes jumping in and discovering for yourself is better. Despite what you've may hear about VCS, I would advise that those claims are false. We don't partake in gossip or hearsay.

Now that that's out of the way, I will list the reasons why you should join.

Weekly Threads are weekly (I've never skipped a week)

Example of our weekly thread posts

Some groups may have one post a week for members to showcase their work. By the time Friday comes along, the thread has over 200 stories which can be intimidating. I decided to create weekly thread posts on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. It shakes up the algorithm, and you'll get more eyes on your work.

Writing Prompts

VCS Member Kelsey Reich

Skipping a few days can plummet your stats. Whether you're taking a break or having writer's block, you can depend on VCS to help guide you with the content you need. Every Wednesday, a writing prompt will grace your timeline. You will always have ideas while being a member. My main focus is you, the member.

Throwback Thursday

Have you ever just stopped and read your very first story on Vocal? Or read your first Top Story? I think it's essential we as writers focus on growth. Throwback Thursdays, give you a chance to do that.

Your writing should never go out of style. You can always gain a new audience with your old work. The bonus is you get more reads.

Vocal Creators Saloon Short Story Series

Created Canva

I have to give credit to Sofia for this lovely idea. Members come together to create a short story. How fun is that? As the admin, I try to throw in some curveballs to make this a learning experience, such as quick turnaround times and word count. The beauty of this exercise is that you can communicate and chat with other members to exchange ideas. Don't believe me? Check out what some of our members have written so far.

Conversation Corner

Created With Canva

This thread goes live every Sunday, and it provides a safe space for members to vent and express personal struggles that may be going on in their lives. You've spent a whole week hitting the ground running by sharing links, liking other people's work, and engaging with fellow Vocal writers. Sunday's provide a space to NOT worry about what story to share next. It's a time to relax and applaud yourself for surviving another week. I created this thread based on the many stories and poems I read. Many are struggling right now, and it's good to feel seen and heard every once in a while. Yes, we are all writers but were also human. We all deal with a sick family member, drama in the workplace, financial struggles, and mental health struggles. I wanted to reiterate that nobody should feel alone during their moments of stress.
