People Are Earning On Instagram Never Posting Themselves. Here's How.

Grab a book and pen. You'll want to take notes.

Last week I wrote about influencers, the different kinds especially in Nigeria, and how they make money.

Today's topic is for a much broader audience. It is for any adult who has access to the Internet and Instagram. If you have both of these things, then you can start on this new venture as early as today.

This is not a sponsored post or me selling you some magic product I've made. I'm not some internet guru here to sell you some magic internet beans that'll make you rich overnight. I'm not going to lie and tell you that this is going to be easy. In fact, you may never get as far as building an audience.

What I am going to tell you though is that this is how the people who are making money doing this are doing it, and I'm going to show you some examples of these kinds of accounts and how much they're making.

So What's The Big Idea? How Are They Making This Money?

As I said earlier on, I wrote about influencers last week.

Now I employ you to think. How did you find out about most of the influencers you follow?

Okay, you're not into influencer culture...how did you find out about new books? New music? New tattoo artists to follow?

For most people, when they have an interest in something, e.g. books, they tend to follow accounts related to books. I know I do. How I then find out about the buzzing new book or buzzing new author page on Instagram is from what I'll be calling in this article: "Road Map Accounts."

What are Road Map Accounts?

Road Map accounts are simply put: accounts that post about other pages on Instagram. They direct you to which new beauty guru you should be paying attention to, what new book you should be reading, what new influencer you should be keeping your eye out for.

So How Do I Go About Starting This Road Map Account?

You start a road map account the way you will any other account on Instagram. Follow the signup process, get a good IG handle that is within the niche of whatever you want to post about. As an example, if you want to be a road map account for movies, then your IG handle shouldn't be something like "@BradAndBuns". However, if for some reason, you want to open a road map account for bread and buns, that'd be an awesome handle.

After opening up your account, the next thing to do, and THIS is the majority of what you'll be doing, is finding the hot, trending, new posts and people in whatever niche you want to promote.

Find the most interesting images from these accounts, post them on your page, and TAG the account you got it from. You must ALWAYS give credit if you use someone else's picture.

Then, once you find the right image and write that perfectly witty caption, include ALL THE HASHTAGS you can possibly fit in to make the post appear on people's explore pages and hashtag searches. Also, tag as many people you think will be interested in following or more importantly SHARING your posts.

Keep posting. Be consistent, until your numbers start going up, and you start seeing comments, and establishing yourself as THE road map account to follow for whatever thing you post about.

Can I See Example / Sample Pages?

Sure. I have a handful of them to show you. I'll start off with more family-friendly ones, and then get into some that are a little bit more mature.

Just so you know, some key money-making road Map accounts are ones that cater to influencers and I'll explain why and how in the money section after this.

Okay, some BOOK accounts. You can "View Profile" to check out their page:

Comedians, Musicians, Movies Accounts.

18+. For Instagram Influencers/Models/Onlyfans Contributors.

So, How Do I Get Money and How Much Can I Expect?

Okay, now this is where it really boils down to you and what you like and what you're comfortable with.

Picking a niche is the first thing you have to decide. I'm going to be using the 3 types of accounts above as examples and how you can make money/what you can expect from each.

Let's take the BOOK ACCOUNT.

This is one sphere that is notorious for compensating Instagrammers not with actual money, but with books and free stuff. Advanced copies of upcoming books, free tickets to book signings, custom bookmarks, etc.

For some top accounts, yes, they also compensate with money. This is mainly for Youtubers though. Your Instagram account has to have a significant amount of followers and engagements for you to be able to demand pay.

Top people in this field can expect anywhere between $750 - $1,500 per book. I know of some people who have gotten a lot more than this before, but those people are very very veryyyyyyy few and so far between.

Don't get too excited though. This is for the TOP people in the field. If you're a newbie account still trying to find a footing and audience, you'd be lucky to as much as get an advanced copy of a book.

Of course once you build your audience, your revenue doesn't have to be tied solely to money from publishing houses and authors.

The genius people at FairyLoot for example had the brilliant idea of starting a book subscription box service for Young Adult fantasy lovers. So every month, people who are signed up for this service get exclusive books and goodies delivered every month.

They didn't wait around to be handed the money, they provided their audience something they'd be willing to pay for, and it's paying off for them. So you too can get creative with your road map account.

Next, we have the Comedy/Musician/Miscallenous accounts.

As a Nigerian, some very popular ones that immediately come to mind are the ones I posted above: @krakstv, and @tundeednut. Of course there's also @instablog9ja, @pulsenigeria247. All these accounts run without us ever knowing who is behind the computer (I mean of course except for tundeednut who wanted to be known).

These accounts in case you're wondering make serious bank!

This is a snippet of the @krakstv Rate Card as of last year.

As you can see, they charge N55,125 per post on Instagram. For custom skits, they charge as high as N250,000 per post.

Instablog charges N100,000 per post on Instagram. And if you want to post something political, you can expect to pay as high as N200,000 per post.

They're making B-A-N-K!

But once again, of course these are very much the cream of the crop. Regular smaller pages are not seeing at all close to this kind of money. The key here is consistency.

Finally, we have the Insta Models/Influencers/Onlyfans Contributors.

Pages that promote women and men who show off their goods, especially ones who are either selling fitness gear or Onlyfans subscriptions can expect to rack in at least $1,000 - $1,500 per post. And that is saying AT LEAST.

I only use that figure because one of the people I know who runs such an account charges at his lowest, $1,500 per post and let me tell you: there is a MAR-KET.

For girls (and boys) to blow up on Instagram, it's really difficult. Because there's so many good looking people on there, they need a way to standout and are usually willing to pay top dollar to get their numbers up authentically.

These types of accounts get followers the fastest. If you tag the right people and use the right hashtags, you can expect to be featured on Explore pages very quickly and once people find one picture, they tend to check out the whole account. If your pictures are fire, people will follow almost immediately. I don't need to explain the biology of this to you as I assume you're an adult reading this and know that when people are horned up, they're more willing to take action.

So these accounts are the fastest to grow, and if you play your cards well, you can expect to charge quite a significant amount of money for your posts.

That's All!

Of course, I am no expert at this. I personally don't even run any road-map accounts but I know people who do. If it's something you think you can do and be really good at, I do employ you to try.

You just might never know.
