RRR's "Naatu Naatu" became the first song from an Indian film to ever receive the award for best original song at Sunday's Academy Awards, defeating a field of heavy hitters that included Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and perennial nominee Diane Warren.

The success of "Naatu Naatu" had many authors, from the stars who danced to it in RRR (N.T. Rama Rao Jr. and Ram Charan) to the vocalists who performed it (Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava) to the choreographer who helped make its video a viral sensation. Songwriters M.M. Keeravani and Chandrabose received the Oscar statuettes (Prem Rakshith).

After winning an Oscar for best show, M.M. Keeravaani has re-ignited interest in India. In the category of best original music, Keeravaani's exuberant anthem "Naatu Naatu" from the movie "RRR" took first place.

Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone attended the Oscars on Sunday to present "Naatu Naatu," which was nominated for best original song but ultimately won the award. In presenting the song, she highlighted its anti-colonialist themes — but it's also "a total banger," she said.

The Oscars' most beautiful aspect, according to him, is when people from all over the globe come together to represent their own cultures and art forms and have those representations valued by other nations and communities.

At the ceremony, the music was also performed by Mr. Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj. The audience gave the pulsating show a standing ovation.After the movie was released in the US last year, the upbeat song became a worldwide phenomenon.The video for the song was shot in 2021 in front of the Mariinskyi House, which serves as the president of Ukraine.

After winning the Golden Globe in January of this year, Telugu film "RRR," directed by SS Rajamouli, continued its winning run at the Oscars, where its upbeat song "Naatu Naatu" became the second Indian song to win the Best Original Song prize. When composer AR Rahman and lyricist Gulzar earned the prize for the song "Jai Ho" from British director Danny Boyle's 2009 film "Slumdog Millionaire," Indian musicians became the first winners of the award.

On Sunday, Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava got the award for their song, which was composed by MM Keeravani and written by Chandrabose. (March 13). The lyrics of The Carpenters' song "Top of the World," which Keeravani riffed on, were changed to read, "There was only one wish on my mind, so was Rajamouli's and my family's, "RRR" has to win, pride of every Indian, and must put me on top of the world."

Rajamouli claims that after reading about the lives of Sitharama Raju (who fought against the British Raj) and Bheem, he had the inspiration for "RRR." (who fought against the Nizam of Hyderabad).
