Three more ways to promote your book!

Going into a new year there's a big change for the marketing game for authors. The marketing game is tricky with the algorithm changing faster than the slot machines at Casinos. It's not like you wanna make videos or posts saying "BUY MY BOOK PLEASE!" because of the respect for the audience to get to your book on their own. This is a list to help that person find your book or weed out the meshpool of book lovers to get the exact audience you need.

Podcast shows (Your show or go on a show)

When I first got published I reached out to a local Virginia author that runs a podcast show called "All Things Writing". He took guests of any authors for the genre they write to. I had no idea it was that easy to get on a show.

And...you'd be surprised that the author interview podcast platform is taking applications. There is a high demand for podcasters to get author guests on their shows. Reach out to them and get it started!

If you have the time, you can make your own show then you can talk aaaaaaall about your book. That's what I did.

Goodreads

One of the easiest and proven ways to get readers is to just ask them to read it. That's what Goodreads is for!

If you published your book through Amazon, that's where you need your ratings. Think of Goodreads as your ticket to get those ratings.

Any rating you get on Goodreads goes STRAIGHT to Amazon. Goodreads is the place you need to be acquainted with because that's where all the book lovers are.

You can go on any group that matches the genre or vibe of your book and ask people in the discussion board if they'll read your book.

It may not be marketing, but it's honesty!

Sample Videos

One of the most recent proven marketing tactics is doing sample videos on TikTok People are intrigued by what they don't know about your book. But in some cases, some people need a smidge more information before they click the purchase button. Put yourself in their shoes, wouldn't you want to know more than just what the back cover says? It's like the trailer from a movie, you want to see the scenes that tell more about the movie than just the title.

Here's what you can do!

Background: There are a couple of options for your background

1. Take a video of your book or thumbing through your book

2. A still image of the cover of your book

3. An image that best represents the atmosphere of your book

Song: Pick a song that fits the vibe of your book! Have fun with that part!

Wording: Pick and choose any small excerpt from your book that YOU want people to know about

Split up the paragraph into certain sections of the video. Remember, you need to time it so that the section matches in sync with the song. Think of it like making your own movie trailer. You are the director of this.

Now...it has been said that it takes a few times. Many authors that use this formula to market their books had to go through making many videos like this. I'd say do about 3-5 videos and let it sit and sift through the algorithm. When someone finds your videos and wants to know more about your book, they'll be like a kid on Christmas they have this content!

Marketing as an author can be discouraging because you wanna be focused on writing, not marketing. Think of it as something temporary, you know you won't have to do this forever when your books finally take off!
