Live Updates: Congress seems to be losing in Meghalaya. It currently leads 5 seats, 16 less than the party won in the last election.

ection Result 2023: No Party Has Majority in Meghalaya. Prime Minister Conrad Sangma's National People's Party (NPP) will win 25 of the 60 seats. NPP's erstwhile ally BJP is likely to win 3 seats. The Congress suffered a major setback as it won only 5 seats.

TMC's Mukul Sangma faces a tough fight in Songsak

- TMC leader and former Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma is facing a tough fight in his home turf of Songsak. He is currently leading by just 165 votes against Nihim Shira of the National People's Party (NPP). He is competing for two seats. Sangma is second to Tikrikilla by a large margin.

- CM Conrad Sangma says his party is a few seats short of a majority. The Prime Minister says he will decide whether to continue after the bottom.

- Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh of UDP won the Mairangi seat by 155 votes.

- Shakliar Warjri of HSPDP (Hill State People's Democratic Party) defeated Minister Bolding Nongsiej in Mawthadraishani by 2353 votes.

TMC is leading by five seats in Meghalaya.

Mukul Sangma-led TMC leads its rivals with 5 out of 56 seats. The result does not meet the expectations of the party. BJP is also leading in 5 seats, which is 3 seats more than it won in the last elections.

NPP Sniawbhalang Dhar won from Nartiang

NPP Sniawbhalang Dhar won Nartiang seat by 2123 votes. He defeated the Congress candidate Emlang Laloo.

Big setback for Meghalaya Congress

- Congress, which ruled the northeastern state for decades, seems to be losing ground in Meghalaya. It leads with five seats, 16 less than the party won in the last election in 2018. In the previous poll, the Congress won 59 seats and got 21 seats with 28.5 percent votes.

- In Meghalaya, party preparations are underway at CM Conrad Sangma's residence in Tura as his party has emerged as the single largest by more than 20 seats.

- Current Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma along with his mother Soradini K Sangma, brother James Sangma and sister Agatha K Sangma visited the grave of his father and former Chief Minister PA Sangma in Tura.

The trends are in line with the exit poll forecasts which gave the best places to Conrad Sangma NPP. Polls predicted 18-26 seats for the nuclear power plant. 6-12 seats were predicted for BJP and Congress.

seats for NPP, 5-9 seats for Trinamool Congress,

-8 seats for BJP, 6-12 seats for Congress and 8-12 seats for United Democratic Party (Meghalaya) led by Metbah Lyngdoh. .
