Here’s an interview for our young leaders! Neville Gaunt has a seat with Engati to discuss the future of work, and Leadership amongst the youth.

Neville is the CEO of Mind Fit Ltd and a firm believer that a ‘can do’ attitude is essential to achieving personal and business success. He is also the co-author of “Can You Handle The Truth?” A book that guides young CEOs into the path of achieving their goals. He emphasizes his motto, “If you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right!” throughout the book. So, we asked him why this quote is so significant to him, to which he responds that in order to succeed, one must have the right attitude to go ahead.

This article will contain a quick summary of the discussion, but if you’d prefer listening to reading, here’s our Spotify podcast:

According to Neville,

“Any practice makes permanent, the right practice makes perfect.”

We then ask Neville our next question, “Do you think youth today are much more impatient and very quick to make decisions? What do you think has changed?” To which, Neville agrees- he believes millennials are more quick on their feet when it comes to decision making, but it’s something that is necessary. It allows them to learn faster.

In general there has been a shift in the working styles of the older generation compared to the youth of today. Neville talks about how organizations work towards bridging the gap between the generations to create a healthy working environment. The youth’s interest in soft skills- skills that are not taught at school are causing this shift, and Neville urges the older generations to listen to these young leaders.

Which also brings us to the next question, “Are there any specific attitudes you think young leaders of today need to possess?” Neville urges our young leaders to listen to those who have experience. Communication is a two-way street, so listening to each other benefits both the youth and older generation- It helps us learn.

Neville also shares the importance of concentrating on the right things and how it will always help us cut the noise.

The rest of the interview talks about how to leverage startups with the use of technology as a marketing tool, how technology can be used to save time. Neville reminds us that technology can be an extremely helpful tool to help us manage trivial tasks. With the use of automation and Artificial Intelligence- simpler, repetitive tasks are being carried out without our assistance. Technology lighting the load really allows us to focus on tasks that are more important- tasks that are more important.

Nevile finally shares the importance of having the right attitude with us. Remember to always have a can-do attitude- as attitude determines everything. If you think you can, you’re absolutely right. In the same sense, if you think you can’t, you’re also right. So why dwell on the negative when you can choose to be positive?

We urge you to watch the video if you’d like to learn more.
