Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) is a most macro manufacturing process in 3d printing. In FFF the layers on the pre-determined layer are selectively made of molten material. The material used is a thermoplastic polymer and is formed in filament form. Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) is the most widely used 3D printing technology today. Representing the largest production of 3D printers globally, this article attempts to outline the principles and technology of basic fused deposition modeling (FDM). When creating a part with FDM, keeping in mind the capabilities and limitations of the technology, it creates the best art.

How does FFF work?

The following is how the FFF fabrication process works.

l) First of all load the spool of thermoplastic filament into the printer and keep it at the desired temperature. Once the nozzle has reached the desired temperature it is melted in the nozzle at the time of filament removal.

II) The molten material is then cut out into thin strands and deposited layer by layer at the designated place, where it cools and solidifies. Most of the time the outside material is cooled by the use of a cooling fan.

lll) More than one pass is required to fill the field. When a layer slides down the entire, build platform, a new layer is added. also This process are repeated by repeated and part is complete. The material melts again on the surface of the previous layer as the temperature is higher and enables the binding of the new layer with the previous layer

Features of Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF)

1) Printer parameters:-

Most FFF systems perform a number of processes, including the nozzle and the build platform, the build speed, as well as the floor height and the speed of the cooling fan. These are mostly set by the operator so they have no design.

2) Warping:-

Warping in Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) seems to be the most common defect. When the material cools during density, its dimensions also decrease. As different sections of the printing press cool down at different rates, their dimensions also keep changing. According to a research, from a technology point of view, temperature warping of the FFF system can be prevented. E.g. Increasing the adhesion between the platform and the chamber and the part and the build platform.

3) Layer Adhesion:-

It is very important for the FFF part to have good adhesion between the deposited layers. This is because when the melted thermoplastic is pulled out through the tube, it is pressed against the previous layer.

4) Support Structure:-

Support structure requirements are important for creating geometry with overhangs in Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF). Molten thermoplastics cannot be deposited on thin air. So some geometries require a support structure in which the surface printed on the support is usually less surface than other parts. For this reason, parts are thus created to reduce the need for support.

Benefits & Limitations of Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF)

Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) is the cheapest way to make suitable thermoplastic parts and prototypes.

The lead time of FFF is very short due to the availability of high technology

Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) provides a wide range of thermoplastic materials suitable for prototyping and commercial work applications.

Best Benefits of Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF 3D Printing)

The FFF 3D printing technique requires thermoplastic polymers for a quick and easy manufacturing process. This technique is widely used in fabricating light-weight structures. As well as technology advances frequently, experts expect to see improvement in its process and use.

1. Compatible Easy Manufacturing Materials – The FFF 3D printing technique allows designers the freedom to choose from varied raw materials, including common thermoplastics, metal-infused thermoplastics, and even food such as chocolate.

2. Best Affordable Manufacturing Technique – The fused filament fabrication technique for 3D printing is extremely best affordable.

3. Cost-Effective Raw Materials – The raw materials used in FFF 3D printing are extremely cost-effective for increased affordability.

4. Easily available – the fused filament 3D printers and raw materials are easily available in the market today
