What are some of the basic tools to becoming successful in affiliate marketing? Do you just advertise the links and banners that come from the vendors or affiliate managers? It seems that everybody out there is an affiliate marketer if you listen to all the stories posted. Not only that but it seems that everybody is getting rich doing it. Are you? However just to set the story straight, it is not as easy as it is touted. There are certain tools that maximize success potential. So, if you are just starting out let’s answer some basic questions that everyone should know.

Question Number 1: Should I just advertise the links and replicated affiliate sights of the owner?

No, according to most successful affiliate marketers, you should definitely get your own website. You want to make it a very professional website, that looks of quality, not something from a free hosting domain, that has pop up ads all over it and basically says that you are cheap and a novice. You want it to be quick loading, easy to navigate around it, so that your visitors are happy being there. This will make them much more likely to stay longer and possibly click links to the product or service you are promoting. Think about what you like in other websites and try to emulate it. Audio and Video are very receptive enhancements that if entertaining or informative will keep visitors on your site.

Secondly on your website, you want to be providing to your potential customer what they primarily are online for in the first place, and that is needed information. Most visitors do not surf with their credit card in hand ready to slap it down at the slightest inducement. Now if you want to rank high with your visitor as well as with Google, then you want original useful content on your site. Great keyword rich accurate informative articles will go a long way in driving traffic to your site, and keeping it there. So, this is what you want your website to say about you, that you are an expert in your field, and a credible person to believe when they consider the affiliate product or service you are endorsing. Remember this is your affiliate marketing business and what you display reflects your idea of success.

Question Number 2: How do I stand out from the competition?

Let me put it this way, if you were looking for a product and came across 3 sites each offering the product for the same price, but one of them offered some sort of bonus or incentive for you to buy from them, and the other 2 did not, which site would you buy from? The answer is obvious, you would take the offer of the bonus for sure. Now if you are the owner of a website and want to offer some sort of premium incentive for your customers, what would be the best way to go about it? For one, link that incentive to an auto-responder. This way you can follow up with that customer whether they buy from you today or not. It has been proven that if you do not use an auto-responder in your online marketing, and the customer leaves without buying, they will probably never visit your site again.

Question Number 3: How do I get customers to go to my website?

Getting traffic is tantamount to the success of your affiliate marketing business and cannot be over emphasized. There are many ways to drive traffic to your site, and that is precisely what you have to do to become successful in affiliate marketing. There is pay per click campaigns that you can run on Google, Yahoo, MSN or any number of lesser search engines.

Achieving top search results in the search engines to connect with the online users who are searching for what you are offering would be an all-important objective as well. How one goes about that and again this is not meant to be an all-inclusive course teaching one how to do it, but suffice to say that to rank high, you need good on page SEO and as many other sites out their backlinking to you as possible.

However, what is more important than just the quantity of backlinks to your site, is the quality of backlinks to your site. High page rank authorities’ sites linking back to your site could probably push your site to the number #1 position on Googles first page if you had the correct on page SEO as well. Having a good quality site and requesting reciprocal link exchange with similar sites to yours will do wonders for your page rank. As your page rank grows, it will be become easier to get other high-ranking sites to link back to you. Do not forget to take advantage of all the high-ranking Social Media sites that are available, such as Facebook and Instagram etc.

Video marketing is a great way to achieve backlinks to your site. You Tube and other top video submission sites can send a lot of traffic to your sites. And as touched on earlier, writing good quality articles and submitting them to article directories can not only achieve you back links from those directories, but a lot of people wanting content for their blogs and sites will pick up your article, with resource box included and post it on their sites giving you even more link juice.

So, these are some of the basics to be successful in affiliate marketing business. Don’t forget that if you are still considering what avenue to take with your online business, that with affiliate marketing you do not have to create a product to sell and there are thousands of merchants hoping you will help them sell their goods.
