Everyday People

As a prior Active-Duty Marine now turned Marine Reservist, I know how it feels to wonder if you’re making a difference in the world and I’m here to tell you that you are. Most people take for granted cashiers, librarians, bus drivers, and all of the other everyday jobs that are vital to our nation’s growth and survival. Nowadays we have way too many songs about Xanax and faces covered with tattoos, and way too many asses on camera with random dudes. Too much Gucci, Louis, Prada, Nike, and other clothing companies trying to brand you. And I know it’s not much and most people will probably scoff it off but even so. This is to those who never hear it but probably need to, because I’ve been there and felt that pain. I just wanted to let you all know that even if it is just me. I want you all to know someone out there is really appreciative of what you do. This is for everyone who is doubting their job and contribution to society. I just wanted to make something to say thanks.

Thank you to the cops who really are trying make the world a better place. You’re always risking your lives to keep a man you never even met safe. I know you aren’t trying kill someone’s kids or lock their father away, you got families who need food on their plates.

Thank you to the firefighters. It takes a special kind of man to run toward all the flames . When we see smoke and we need help, and the fire can't be contained y’all always run in while everybody runs away.

Thank you to my brothers and sisters fighting for our glorious country, always waiting to be told we’re going to be flying way overseas. I ain't never met you, but I love you because I know that if we meet on the battlefield, we’ll be ready to die keeping each other safe. While everyone else is enjoying their freedom, we’ll always know freedom ain't free and when the anthem plays, we’ll never take a knee.

Thank you to the truckers, the janitors, and the average people. The ones holding the jobs that will damage your ego. You’re the ones who do the most and in return you get zero.

Thank you to the paramedics coming at high speed in an ambulance trying to get someone to breathe at the scene of an accident, covered in a stranger's blood and trying to bring them back again. Your stress level's always at a maximum.

Thank you to the carpenters, mechanics, and the welders and plumbers. Y'all are building all the roofs that we're under. Swinging hammers in the blistering heat, pouring rain, and the snow. I hope you know that I appreciate your struggle.

Thank you to the nurses and doctors fighting for everyone's lives, you don't always find a cure, but I believe that you try. The guilt of seeing someone who you tried to save die, don't let it haunt you, y'all bought them some time.

Thank you to the priests, the pastors, and the grocery store/restaurant clerks

The ones who don't get thanked or paid enough for their work you probably feel disrespected and I'm sure that it hurts.

And thank you to all of the everyday people. You know who you are, you aren't superstars, you don't fight evil, you got to do the hours with no superpowers. You don't always save the world, and don't get the girl.

Screw what anyone says, y'all are all heroes.

The Everyday People.
