God doesn’t sit on his heavenly throne, controlling us the way a master puppeteer controls his puppets. And despite popular misconception God is not the author of struggle, pain and wars, that’s Satan’s territory, but the Lord can use these things to draw us closer to him, he has the power to use something horrible and turn it around.

It would be easy for God just to tell us what to do, to put the words in our mouths, but he gave us free will, we’ve been allowed to make decisions for ourselves, we make our own mistakes, these aren’t God’s mistakes, he is incapable of making mistakes.

God is a Sovereign God, not our puppet master. He reaches out to us in love, and even when he seems far away, he’s either walking with us, or he’s carrying us.

SOVEREIGN ‘sɑv.(ə)r(.ə)n noun. A supreme ruler.2. adjective. Possess supreme or final power.[Sovereignty ‘sɑv.(ə)r(.ə)n.ti noun.]

A Sovereign God is not the same as a puppet master, we are allowed to make our own mistakes, but it does seem to be easy for humanity to blame suffering on God, we watch wars in far off lands, and wars in our own lands, drugs, gangs, guns, murder, Uvalde Tx, Brooklyn New York, it’s all a bit much, and we want to blame someone so we are quick to blame God, but he is not the author of pain, or suffering.

God Isn’t the author of our suffering, but he has the ability to use our suffering for good as we read in Romans 5:3–5

3 Not only so, but we[a] also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

Suffering though for us can turn to bitterness, we get angry and we lash out at God and those around us, the very people trying to help us, we hurt.

There’s a truth in the saying that hurt people, hurt people, I’ve seen it, and I’m sure there has been times when I’ve been guilty of this.

Suffering can be a consequence of sin, we tend to often go back and put our little hands on that proverbial stove, burning them, despite being told time and time not to do that.

Romans 5:12 New International Version

Death Through Adam, Life Through Christ

12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned —

We are all sinners, we have all fallen short, so we are going to experience pain, we will have our struggles, but that does not mean God doesn’t love us, and it certainly doesn’t mean he doesn’t love us.

“If there is one single molecule in this universe running around loose, totally free of God’s sovereignty, then we have no guarantee that a single promise of God will ever be fulfilled.”

R.C. Sproul,

Chosen By God: Know God’s Perfect Plan for His Glory and His Children

I am a woman of Faith, I gave my heart to Jesus after high school, having gotten away from the Mormon Church, a church that scarred me in many ways, but I am far from perfect, I’ve made plenty of mistakes, and though I consider myself a pretty laid back person, there are times I am quick to anger, I have a disability that leaves me in Chronic pain, and I find myself getting angry, I have blamed God, but the truth is he has taught me something in all of this. Be still. When you take the time to be still and be mindful of your walk with God, we are blessed, I’ve learned this from experience.

“We often make the grave theological mistake of equating the sovereignty of God and everything happening in the earth realm as being ‘His Will’.”

Sebastien Richard,

Kingdom Fundamentals: What the Kingdom of God Means and What it Means for You.

It’s easy to see the Sovereignty of God, when things seem to be going well, but harder when we watch shootings, and wars and our own life struggles take place, still we are blessed when we learn to Praise him in Life’s Storms.
