Getting a Real Estate License in Tennessee

I'm finally taking the leap!

Writing is my real passion. I run my own eBay business, and I am dragging my first published novel through another edit and publish. But aside from that, I cannot say that writing is a sustainable way to supplement income for my family. Neither is being a substitute teacher...

While it's better than nothing, I find my family in a situation where I need to find a way to pick up the slack. And I've always known I can do anything if I put my mind to it. So, I am getting my real estate license for Tennessee.

So far, there is a lot to it, and I am extremely nervous. Obviously, I am not cutting off my avenues of work, and I'll never give up writing. However, I am now taking a 90-hour course on real estate licensing, as that is the first step to becoming a realtor here in Tennessee.

Real Estate Licensing Program Aceable Agent is an extremely adaptable program. It's affordable, it's a nationally accepted program, and the lessons are engaging and interesting.

Instead of long boring chapters, the bits of information are broken down into bite-sized chunks. At the end of the segments, all of the information it explained to you comes together to make sense. Not to mention, they are humorous. They have funny examples that while making the information relate, also keep us from falling asleep at our keyboard.

You are able to save their break-d0wn study guides on Pinterest for easy accessibility. They also have valuable resources, such as practice tests, guides for contract writing, and a downloadable/printable study guide and key term index.

They also have very helpful live support that you can get a hold of.

The cons of this are few: You have to be pretty self-motivated. It's up to you to take this 90-hour course so that you can take a test to get licensed. A cute little animated robot, some YouTube hyperlinked videos, and an interactive breakdown of each chapter are your only teachers. You have to be determined to go through this process.

And there are some other conditions to getting a license too. Such as you have to have a licensed realtor sponsor at the beginning of your career, which means you have to work for them. Continuing education should be done every two years, much like an insurance agent. Fingerprinting is also a part of the process of getting your license, after passing an exam after taking your 90-hour education.

While these may sound like overwhelming conditions, they are really straightforward and simple.

I am doing quite well with my realtor studies, and since it's at my own pace, as long as I get the courses done, I can expedite my career. Wish me luck, and if you just so happen to be a realtor - please feel free to share any advice you may have. Or even just share your story. If you got your realtor license, how did your life change? Have you had success? What are some things that come with the job that you maybe didn't expect? Tell me your best sale story!

Bonus fangirl points if you can advise me on how to combine writing and reality together in a career!
