Forty Hour Week

Those that go the extra mile for us

By Lawrence Edward HincheePublished 3 years ago 3 min read

We always seem to focus on the misbehavior of individuals in their industry. The rude agent, or the nasty sales clerk, perhaps the angry cop you met along the way. We have them in all professions and the biggest complaint if the airline industry. Yes we have rude agents there, but when you put up with the crap we do on a daily basis, then it is understandable. But what about those who go above and beyond? Customers can be just as rude with the agents and I've been cussed out by many a customer. There is bull shit to be dealt with at every job level known to man. We don't even think about reporting that story. You will see some of them here.

I don't know this man nor his location. He has an elderly lady on his route that can barely walk. Instead of making her carry her trash to the pick-up point, the come up to her house to get her trash. They realize a fall could be deadly in an elderly woman. The sanitation workers did the same thing for my grandmother until she passed away. How about the sanitation worker and the little boy? The boy loved the worker so much he gave him cookies. You see no hate in either one. Matter of fact just the opposite. https://youtu.be/UaBT762AjBk This is wonderful to see that a child is being raised right.

I know we all get tired of those dreaded cone zones and yell obscenities' at the contraction workers. A hot day, the air conditioner is barely working and you just want to make it home. But it's not the construction workers fault. It is our elected leaders who voted for an approved the project. You ask how can you see a construction worker going the extra mile? What if you see this? Something to make them happy. I loved it when I saw this one. https://youtu.be/PPIUTxVSmys These kids were really excited over this.

The police are notorious for having a bad track record with the community. But is that really true? When an officer is killed in the line of duty their family is well taken care of by the department. What about mere citizens? Is the cop always out to get us citizens? It seems like it and nine times out of ten it is our own fault for speeding or whatever the offense was. But what happens when you know you're wrong but the officer does something totally unexpected? This man was pulled over and he did have a car seat for his car. The officer said follow me to Walmart https://youtu.be/qOXzepcOQtE and bought a car seat for this man. He didn't even issue a citation.

What about those delivery drivers> You know Fedex, UPS and so on? I know they are never on time especially when you are expecting a package, you want it the minute you get up. But again, we caught a hero UPS driver that saved the life of a little boy. Had it not been for him, well the boy could have been dead. https://youtu.be/v9XRduqUA3Q

After you have received your ticket and go to court, then you face the judge. Your fine and penalties are up to the mood of the judge. But not all judges are so nasty. I love this judge, let's hope you get him. https://youtu.be/CpRqWJTp9mY

Back to the airline industry. I know you are running late and you arrive ten minutes after cut-off for your flight. Your counter agent politely tells you he can send you on the next flight. You become because despite the back-up at security you and your kids can run the half mile marathon to your gate. Sorry not any more. After you get rebooked and your luggage checked you head to the gate. On the way to the gate you pass the customer service center and decide to file a complaint. All interactions between agent and are documented. You arrive at the gate and your plane comes in, is cleaned and you are boarded for your flight. Then you get this flight attendant onboard your flight. https://youtu.be/gQR9xkVnEks

Virgin America put a lot of time into their safety video and I feel it is one of the best demonstrations out there. Too bad Virgin merged with Alaska. But here is a good safety demonstration. https://youtu.be/z1A5BtqsaPM
