Whether it is for yourself, your business, or your customer, it is important to know the framework to create a profitable marketing strategy or hence your business will not sustain itself in the long run. The way you approach a digital marketing plan will vary based on an individual business’ goals, but there are definitely a few things to bear in mind that will keep you on the path to success.

Know your business goals

What do you wish to create as a business or as an individual? What are your plans and strategies? Even if you create a marketing strategy for a client, you need to know the client's goals and objectives relative to their business. It is important because it will help you to set the framework, guidelines, and actionable steps that will help the business to be successful. Your business objectives need to be SMART that is Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Reliable, and Timebound. Your objectives need to be realistic and should be able to be followed during a specific time frame in order to see whether or not they can be successfully implemented.

Create a Realistic Framework

After your business goals have been established, you will need to map out your plan and determine strategies and steps in which your strategies shall be implemented. You can create a content mapping, timelines, and editorials calendar in order to track your performance. There are plenty of tools to help with this level of content management and planning. The important thing is to establish several ideal (realistic) outcomes while leaving some room for uncertainty. And you want to do this based on a set of chosen key performance indicators (KPIs) that are related to your strategy and goals.

Analyze Your market and the competitors

What are your competitors doing? What strategy do they put in place? What are their contents? How do they interact with their audience? Before you can do anything you first need to analyze your competitor's performances and track whether or not you can create better content or similar content than that of competitors, you also need to determine what you can offer or what makes your business unique as compared to your competitors.

You will also need to analyze the market, what are the behaviors of customers? What do they like to purchase? How can they access your content? What are the strategies you can put in place to gain access to your customers? You can decide to use social media channels, blogging, or video marketing to make potential customers become aware of their brand.

Understand What Makes for Effective Content

Content is so much more than great blogs, Tweets, and Facebook ads! There’s a lot you can do to get creative with it and to that end, you’re going to want to be up-to-date on technology and the latest methods of getting to your audience. What makes for truly effective outreach and engagement is your ability to tell a story, and to that end, your strategy should center around an effective advertising campaign that is high quality and of value.

Create an action plan

How will you carry out your strategy and make it successful? We shall carry out an analysis step by step.

Imagine your objective is to make potential customers aware of your brand. What are the strategies that you will need to implement? What is your business mission and vision?

Your business goal may be to become the no 1 business consultant in your town. You can break this goal into objectives, that is, “in order to achieve my goals I will need to make customers aware of my brand and deliver services much more quality than that of competitors” you can decide to break down the objectives into actionable steps following the smart approach.

SMART objectives

Specific: Assisting small businesses, startups, and entrepreneurs in their business procedures and following them until their businesses are successfully implemented

Measurable: I will track weekly the number of people visiting my websites

Actionable: I will talk to potential customers on Linkedin, Quora, and Facebook to make them aware of my enterprises

Reliable: I will analyze the customer's preoccupations and concerns and based on my business goals I will provide answers to their questions

Timebound: I will track the number of page visits weekly and the number of conversions on a monthly basis to determine the clients' needs and analyze my performance.

This is an example but it will give you a clear idea about your plan. Also, you need to determine for how long your business objectives shall be implemented, if it is on monthly, daily, or yearly bases, and adjust your actions plans based on that and also from the analyses of the market.
