SEO meta description

When a search engine choose which page to click on the SERP, meta description is their priority to see briefly whether your page can answer their queries.

This is why, having a good meta description is crucial in boosting your CTR and traffic.

In this post, I'm going to share you some advance tips to improve your meta description for a better SEO result.

Persuasive and Eye-Catching

Your meta description works like a brochure before someone visiting your website.

Meanwhile, there are thousands or even billion of pages that are just like you!

We understand that your content might be better than the others, but the internet reader does not know that at first.

To make them land on your page, create an eye-catching and interesting meta description that stand out than your competitors.

Address The Issue in a Concise and Short Form

A great meta description should be able to attract the visitors the moment they read them. To do that, you should be able to think on their point of view.

For example, if you're writing about bugs on bed, write the description such as: "Is your skin felt itchy each time you woke up?"

The example above showing that your page has the answer of their main issue.

Having an issue described and attractive might be challenging due to the character limitation of the meta description itself.

Don't Ever Think of Using Clickbait Meta Description

Although you should make your meta description as attractive as possible, you should not use any clickbait description that does not match your content.

For example, when you write a description such as: "Sports that make you taller in 5 mins".

We all know that there is no such sport that able to make someone taller in just 5 mins.

When a reader click your page from the SERP and they found out that your content are not match with their expectation, they will leave and bounce back immediately.

A high bounce rate on your page will give a signal to the search engine that your page does not have a great content inside it or maybe does not answer their user's needs.

Hence, your page will go even lower!

Be Unique

The point here is slightly different from the point above that stated you should be able to make your meta description stand out.

What I mean by unique is, you should always write a new, fresh meta description for all your pages.

Don't use the same meta description or even copy and paste the meta description from other sources.

This works same as your content page. If the search engine found that your meta description is copied from other sources, chance is your page will not rank at all.

Keyword

If you're an SEO expert, you should know by now that keyword research is crucial before creating any content.

So, what is this keyword used for meta description?

Each time you make a new meta description, do not forget to input your keyword on the meta description.

If you feel that inserting the exact keyword might sounds too forcing that does not suit for the rest of the description, you can still use semantic keyword on the meta description.

If you have no idea what it is, semantic keyword is a synonym or close related keyword that is related to your main target keyword.

For instance, if your main keyword is "working mother", then the semantic keyword can either be "working moms" or "mother with career".

Does Answering The Solution in Meta Description a Good Idea?

Now, you might be thinking that what if you give the answer right in front of the readers in the meta description?

In my opinion, this also work great.

When your reader find the answer before entering your page, there is a high chance that they will go for more details on your page.

This could be a magnet for the readers since they have ensured that your page has the answer that they are looking for from the meta description.

Bottom Line

Believe it or not, improving a meta description can increase your website traffic for at least 25%, according to the research.

Now imagine that your current website traffic is 100,000 a month. 25% of 100,000 is an additional 25,000!

Well, that is if your meta description for all your pages are working great of course.
