7 Ways (Plus A Bonus One) I Earn an Income Writing for Vocal
We love income diversity.
When I first began writing for Vocal (back in ...2017?) it was very different than how it is now. I stumbled upon it accidentally, by reading someone else's article. I thought to myself, "I totally could have written that better!" (Sassy, I know) But it intrigued me... perhaps I really could write it better.
I snooped the website trying to apply to be a writer, and was pleasantly surprised. It was easy. I could just sign up and submit my work. And if it was a decent article it would be published. Even get paid via the reads. Bingo.

I have a following on instagram that is passionate about the same niche's I am - and I saw a great opportunity to drive traffic to my blog posts from my instagram page. Vocal gave me a platform, now I needed to drive traffic. So I got to work.
I utilized all my social medias and made a decent return on my work, but it didn't feel like enough to be sustainable, as I had hoped.
Then I got to reading some posts over on the good ol' resource page and discovered there may be some gold I was missing all along.
Reads are not the only way to make the bag !
It's wild I know. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, make sure to read up on how to maximize each of these features by checking out the info I'm providing you below.
After I realized I was only focusing on one avenue of revenue (not the vibe!) I quickly made sure to tap into all my possible income streams when writing here on Vocal.
Alright, let's get into it!
7 Ways (Plus A Bonus One) I earn an income writing for Vocal
1. Tips!
Tipping is the top way I earn money on Vocal! The best thing about tipping is that your readers can choose how much they would like to gift you based on the content you provided them.
This is great because it creates a sort of mutualistic relationship between the reader and writer. If you: the reader, feel the writer provided you with value you can gift them value in return.
And as a writer, we love to get tips for our work! Even if it's $2.00 - the fact that you took the time to send it our way means we're doing something right.

2. Reads.
Aside from tips, creators also earn from their work on a per view basis as I mentioned earlier. If you're wanting to earn high amounts of money from views on your posts you will have to get a lot of eyes on them. This means you'll have to learn the art of driving traffic:
Check out my post on how to drive a lot of traffic to your blog!
3. Affiliate Links.
Affiliate marketing is when you recommend products and/or services from another company to your viewers. You include a link to the product which is specifically designed for your audience, so when they buy- you earn!
The beauty of affiliate marketing is you can promote products you're passionate about, while not having the stress of inventory or back-end business hassles. Most brands now have affiliate programs: from Forever 21 to Walmart, Target to Amazon!
When I want to share something with my readers from a different company I can include an affiliate link, which allows me to still earn from my recommendations. It also gives the company a sale, and the viewer a note worthy new product or service.
4. Promote Your Own Products!
This is my favourite way to earn because it allows my creativity to be portrayed in a number of ways. I can write about my designs, which allows for me to promote both my clothing and my articles, while simultaneously earning from both.
Love that for us.
5. Embed your YouTube content.
This is another cool feature! If you're doing some vlogging along with your blogging, you'll love this. You can embed your youtube videos into your posts and share the post with friends and family, along with a background story or brief synopsis of your latest release.
It will give your audience a choice between whether to they want to watch or read; and either way you're getting a view count (if not two!)
6. Vocal as a high paying portfolio
Whether you work for Fiver, upwork, or freelance having a portfolio (that also pays you) is super convenient to have. Having an editor on Vocal's team monitor your work helps you perfect the craft, and the consistency of publishing will benefit both your writers voice, and confidence.
How sweet is it that your live work portfolio also earns you passive income while potentially scoring you big gigs? Love that.

7. Contests with Cash Prizes
We love the 'Challenges' feature of Vocal that provides creators an opportunity to win cash prizes for their work. And they are awesome prizes! With tons of different categories to choose from.
If the Challenge had a cash prize, we’ll send the prize money to your Stripe account, and it’ll be automatically exchanged to your local currency if necessary. If the prize you’ve won is an item, we’ll send it to whatever shipping address you provide.
Vocal
This a super effective way to earn because the lump sums are higher than reads or tips (depending obviously). Doesn't hurt to try right!
And we can't forget about...
8. Bonuses.
Yup. Bonuses are given out by the Vocal team. I know, they rock.
Vocal says, "Bonuses are another way we can cheer on our creators, by congratulating them for meeting certain milestones!"
We appreciate that, Vocal! While we push to meet our own milestones, it's nice to know we are surpassing Vocal's as well (with a sweet cash reward!)
Feels good to earn money doing what you love ♡
