If you want to generate additional money from the comfort of your own home but aren't sure where to begin, remember that you're not alone.

According to the 2020 Report on the Economic Well-Being of American Households, 27 percent of Americans over the age of 18 had side hustles that offered an additional source of income.

Still, 73 percent of individuals in the United States rely only on their full-time employment for a living. Life, as demonstrated by the epidemic, is unexpected. No job, no matter how brilliant we are at it, is ever safe.

Whether you are in danger of losing your work or simply need a little more income, establishing a side hustle is one of the finest things you can do for yourself. They're quite simple to get started, and some don't even require you to leave your house.

So, where do you begin?

Here are my top five side hustles that allow me to earn money without ever leaving my house.

1. Blogging

I honestly can't express how much blogging has influenced my life. Not only has it provided me with a platform to voice my thoughts and ideas, but it has also enabled me to earn a decent living from it.

If you enjoy writing and want to start earning money from it, blogging is a terrific place to start. You have the option of starting your own blog or writing on Medium. For those who are just getting started, I would recommend writing on Medium because there is already an audience there and you can start generating money soon you post your first piece.

I began blogging on Medium four years ago. While it took me three years to make a decent living on Medium, there are months when I make $1,000 to $2,000 on posts I authored years ago.

It's not simple to generate money from blogging, but if you continuously produce high-quality material, you never know how much you can earn.

2. Copywriting

Copywriting is one of the greatest and simplest side hustles that ANYONE can undertake.

If you're unfamiliar with copywriting or don't know what a copywriter is, think of a copywriter as someone who creates material to increase sales for the firm they're writing for. Copywriters provide interesting text for Facebook advertising, social media postings, corporate websites, sales pages, email funnels, and other promotional campaigns run by the firm.

As a copywriter, you must be a skilled writer who can hold the interest of any audience. In addition, you must guarantee that your work is devoid of grammatical and spelling problems.

The wonderful thing about being a copywriter is that you may not only earn a lot of money, but you can also set your own hours and clientele. You are not required to write about items you are unfamiliar with; in fact, I would advise against it. Make sure you stick to what you know in order to generate superior content.

3. YouTube

YouTube is the side hustle that will most likely take the most time to earn money from, but if you are creative and don't mind being in front of a camera, it could be worth considering.

To generate money on YouTube, you must have more than 1,000 subscribers and over 4,000 hours of video view time. The more videos you have, the more likely it is that a handful of them will become viral.

It's important to note that YouTube isn't a "get wealthy quick" side venture. It will take a significant amount of time to build an audience of more than 1,000 subscribers. Some of your films may receive 10 views, while others may receive thousands. You never know what video may attract the YouTube algorithm's attention, but if you have one, there's no knowing how much money you can make from it. There are many YouTubers who have made YouTube their full-time job, and you can, too.

4. Marketing Through Affiliates

Affiliate marketing is another simple side job to get started with that doesn't need a lot of talent or effort.

If you're unfamiliar with affiliate marketing, it's when you advertise the products or services of others in return for a small commission on each transaction you lead someone to. This might be anything from Amazon merchandise to subscription services to online courses.

Affiliate marketing will work better for people who have a bigger following, but those with only one follower may also get started. Some months, I'll make an extra $50 simply by including links to my camera set up in the description of my YouTube videos.

Even if you're just getting started on Medium or have a YouTube channel, why not make some additional money by marketing some of the items you use every day? The amount of money you can make will be determined by how many people click on your link and buy anything, but, once again, it involves very little labor and is completely passive.

5. UserTesting

I've just recently begun performing UserTesting, but I'm having a great time with it.

UserTesting is a side venture that allows freelancers to examine new website designs and mobile applications for a charge. As a tester, you provide organizations with comments and insight into how they may enhance the functioning and overall user experience of the website or app.

Testers may choose which tests they want to participate in and when they want to engage with UserTesting. There are, for example, 15-minute tests that pay users $10. There are also five-minute exams that pay $4 to users. Testers can also opt to engage in extended interviews in which they can earn up to $125.

Given that these exams can be taken from the comfort of your own home at any time of day or night, it's not a terrible side hustle to start.
