The Grammy Awards are regarded as the Academy Awards of the music business. Everyone in the music business hopes to one day become a Grammy winner. And now the time has come to celebrate the biggest awards in the music industry. Yes, Los Angeles is hosting the 66th Grammy Awards. A number of categories, including Record of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year, will be recognized with Grammy Awards in 2024. In addition, celebrities like Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, and Burna Boy will perform at the biggest music industry awards ceremony.

A bonafide Kansas City native and a "adopted daughter" of Kansas City are competing for one of the top prizes at Sunday's Grammy Awards. That "adopted" title went to Taylor Swift, who is up for six prizes, including album of the year for "Midnights," thanks to Kansas City's own Jason Sudeikis. The actor brought up Swift's habit of showing out to Chiefs games to support her boyfriend, Travis Kelce. Over the years, Swift has received 12 Grammy Awards, winning 12 of her 52 nominations. With three album of the year wins, she is tied with Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder, and Frank Sinatra. She will become the first performer in Grammy history to win that category four times if she wins it again this year.

Janelle Monáe, a native of KCK, is also competing for that prestigious prize for her album "The Age of Pleasure." Additionally, the record was a nominee for best progressive R&B album. Over the years, Monáe has been nominated ten times, but she has never won.

Even though opinions on who will win album of the year are divided, many predict that SZA, who has the most nominations this year, will win with her song "SOS." Swift received a nomination for best pop vocal album for her song "Midnights." For best pop duo/group performance, "Karma" is a contender. Additionally, "Anti-Hero" received nominations for two major awards—song of the year (for the songwriter) and record of the year (for the performer)—as well as best pop solo performance, two categories that, strangely, Swift has never won. On Sunday, February 4, at 7 p.m., the 66th Grammy Awards will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

WHO’S HOSTING THE GRAMMYS?

This year's show will be hosted by comedian Trevor Noah for the fourth consecutive year. This year, Noah is nominated twice for best comedy album at the Grammy Awards.

In January, he received an Emmy Award for outstanding talk series for his work on "The Daily Show," which he won in its last season.

HOW CAN I WATCH THE GRAMMYS?

Live broadcast of the main program on CBS will start at 7 p.m. Central time. Subscribers to Showtime and Paramount+ may view both live and on demand content. Subscribers of Paramount+ Essential will have to wait until the next day. Additionally, live TV streaming sites like Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, and FuboTV that include CBS in their roster are able to broadcast the Grammy Awards.

PARAMOUNT+

WHO HAS THE MOST GRAMMY NOMINATIONS?

SZA has the most nominations going into the Grammy Awards— nine. Her R&B ballad disguised as a revenge anthem, "Kill Bill," earned her nominations for best R&B performance, song of the year, and record of the year. "SOS" is also a contender for best progressive R&B album and album of the year. SZA is nominated for record, album, and song again at the 2024 ceremony. With seven nominations apiece, Victoria Monét and Phoebe Bridgers are in second place. Bridgers has six members in her band, Boygenius.

Additionally receiving six were Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Brandy Clark, Jon Batiste, and producer Jack Antonoff. The only other prominent nominee for best new artist is Monét.

WHO IS PERFORMING?

Joni Mitchell, who is up for best folk album, will be making her Grammy debut. Eilish, Rodrigo, Dua Lipa, Billy Joel, Burna Boy, Luke Combs, and Travis Scott are among the other artists who were previously confirmed. Furthermore, U2 will perform live for the first time on television from Sphere in Las Vegas.

HOW CAN I WATCH THE RED CARPET?

Will begin airing its "Live From the Grammys Carpet" program, which features a blend of celebrity interviews and fashion coverage, at 5 p.m. Central.

WHAT’S NEW AT THE GRAMMY AWARDS?

The Recording Academy revealed in June that three new categories—best pop dance recording, best African music performance, and best alternative jazz album—will be included in the Grammy Awards' 2024 ceremony. According to a Recording Academy press release, "regional melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic musical traditions" will be highlighted in the new best African music performance category. Prior to the addition, those musicians would have competed in the 2022-introduced Best Global Music Performance category. Another significant shift was the Academy's declaration that "only human creators" would be able to win, which was meant to challenge the use of AI in popular music.
