I Tried Meditation and Fell Asleep
Introduction The goal of meditation is to bring inner peace, clarity, and insight. But for me, it just brought deep, uninterrupted sleep. When I first decided to try meditation, I had high hopes that I would become more mindful, have less stress, and maybe even discover some of my own wisdom. I, on the other hand, kept drifting off into dreamland. At first, I thought I was doing something wrong. However, it turned out that my unintentional nap gave me a completely new perspective on meditation, relaxation, and what it really means to be mindful. The Decision to Meditate

Just a Cuppa
Jarred from my sleep by the shrill exclamation of my alarm, I dazedly swipe the disable option from my watch, feeling immediate relief at the resulting absence of noise. I grumble (just another part of my daily routine) then shuffle into my boots/stilettos/[texture not found] slippers and meander to the bathroom. I perform my morning ablutions, brushing my teeth while the video game visage peers back at me through lidded, groggy eyes. I chuckle; my ability to visualize is ordinarily non-existent. The Toaster Rebellion
It started like any other morning. I stumbled into the kitchen, half-asleep, barely functioning, and operating entirely on muscle memory. I grabbed two slices of bread—whole wheat, because I was trying to be healthy—and tossed them into the toaster.

Background Characters
Oh, sweet Saint Jerome, not another pair. Do I have SUCKER printed on my forehead? This is the fifth pair of idiots this week, coming into our border town with their stupid selfie sticks and flip flops and no amount of sunscreen in sight and put down that scorpion this instant are you trying to kill yourselves? Go home! Don’t come to the desert in spring unless you know what you’re getting into!

The Silence Between Us. AI-Generated.
There is a space between people that words cannot fill. It’s not the kind of silence that comes from a lack of things to say, but the kind that lingers when the unsaid becomes too heavy to bear. It’s the silence between two people who once knew each other so well that words were almost unnecessary—and now, they are entirely insufficient.
