It's Don Versus The World

And neither is worth being behind.

By Jason MortonPublished 22 days ago 3 min read

Welcome back to the continuing episodes of The Days of Our Lives. Days of Our Lives is a soap opera that aired between eleven and twelve Central Time. It had some colorful characters, moderately intense story lines, and cheap entertainment value if you were stuck at home, in need of some noise, or a soccer mom not working.

And here we all are, living in a world that has become like The Days of Our Lives. We're all living one long, constant, inescapable day that seemingly has no end. And like most soap operas, if I were going to be stuck in a meta-adventure, I'd just rather it be something else. Perhaps the worst Friday the 13th movie, like, JasonX.

In this edition of The Days of Our Lives, it's not even 8:30 in the morning, and somebody has shared with me one of the dumbest videos I've ever seen. It made me cringe. For more reasons than one.

  • It Was Real

  • It Was Online

  • It Involved Our Not-So-Fearless Leader

  • It Once Again Involves A Body Of Water

  • And

  • Nobody In D.C. Has Balls Enough To Say Don't Post This

Have People Truly Given Up

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. That was a lesson learned during many years of following what goes on at 1600 Pennsylvania. However, it's getting harder and harder to catch those two points in the day. And it appears it's getting harder and harder for his staff to catch them as well.

The fact that this was done in front of cameras and shared online is beyond all rationale. What is the obsession with renaming bodies of water? First it was the Gulf of Mexico. Now, it's Lake of America. We all get it, President Donald Trump thinks that America is the absolute living embodiment of awesome, but the toughest kid on the playground doesn't have to go around proving it by putting his name on everything.

Trump's the commander-in-chief. But, at some point, somebody needs to tell him that he's coming off to the American people like a blitering bafoon. No, things are not going well for you, Mr. President.

Then again, as his staff gives up on him, and America is torn in half, we have been here before. It wasn't that long ago that the Democratic Party threw Joe Biden to the wolves in favor of the famous cackling, word salad tossing, hard to near impossible to take serious replacement candidate. Is this the price we pay for not expecting people to...make sense?

Why would he make any more sense than the next guy?

It's a good question. When we consider all that we're watching- the world that's on fire, the price of everything still being nearly as bad as it was under his predecessor, and the growing national debt that Trump's likely to end up responsible for 30 percent of in time, he wouldn't.

It's The Revenge Tour Effect

While there are still things being dug up regarding everything from the election cycle in 2016 to the election cycle of 2020, and the current plans for 2026 and 2028, we're seeing what I expected to see. It's the Revenge Tour Effect.

To say that both candidates in 2024 were questionable is an understatement. Some couldn't make themselves vote for either. But in Trump's case, it was because people likely found problems with his claims he wouldn't go after his opponents.

Then there were his claims he knew nothing about 2025, which, considering he was an associate of the publisher of the document, the Heritage Foundation, weren't remotely believable. But, as we sit in 2026, the Trump revenge tour is in full swing.

And since Canada won't play ball with Trump on his terms, now we may see Lake Ontario as the most recent victim. Like anybody but him wants to see this.

So, in 2028, I suggest voting for Donald Duck. Because a write-in candidate may be the only way to escape the Days of Our Lives.
