IF WE WERE LIKE THE COMMERCIALS

IF WE WERE LIKE THE COMMERCIALS
Heaven forbid!!
**
I’ll begin this little rant with one of the newer commercials: ZzzQuil. The wife lies beside her husband and whispers: “Every night he can’t sleep.” As he’s dozing off, she all but shouts, “BUT NOT TONIGHT!!”
Good grief! You whisper when he’s wide awake but shout as his eyes are closing? If my husband did that to me, I’d take the damn bottle of ZzzQuil and hit him with it!
Whoever makes up the ads should have his or head examined. Real people don’t act like the commercials.
Here are a few more of my pet peeves:
The bra.
The ad shows a women trying on several bras – all of which don’t fit. Why? Well, hell, if she’d try one that isn’t three sizes too small, she’d find one that works. It’s like any other type of clothing. If you know you’re overweight, why would you try anything made for a much smaller person? I don’t know of any woman to wriggles and squirms that much to get on a bra!
Plastic Storage Container.
The ad shows a woman in her kitchen. She opens a cabinet door and hundreds of plastic food containers come tumbling out on her head! Most without the lids that she can’t find. Trust me when I say, women are NOT that dumb.
Let’s jump to ….
fat hiding clothes for women.
I’m sure you’ve seen those commercials: a slightly overweight woman who has a few belly rolls puts on what appears to be an elastic straw and WOW…. Suddenly her rolls are gone and she’s as slim as a super model (who probably never eats and is anorexic). Really? That fat has to go somewhere! But the commercials hide it all very well.
Dishwashers and men.
You remember those commercials. A man stands in front of a dishwasher, scratching his head in total confusion. The commercial doesn’t tell the man how to load it, only that he should use a certain dishwasher detergent. I really doubt that there are any men who are that incompetent.
Then there is the new one about paper towels.
A couple sits in (I’m assuming) their living room which looks like it was hit with a tornado during what might have been a party. What you see strewn through the scene are dirty paper plates, plastic cups, dropped food, and so much more. Yes, the couple appears overwhelmed at the thought of cleaning up. So, rather than get off the messy couch and begin the task of cleaning, they shout: ‘BRAWNY’ … and the paper towel giant appears. Do you really think by shouting for a fictional character your house will automarically clean itself “after the party mess”? Doubt it.
And let’s end my little tirade with drugs.
Wegovy.
A woman is painting an outdoor scene but leaves her wet paint brush to walk with other people who left what they were doing to walk down the street and sing about weight loss. How about the guy helping his grandson (?) work on a car engine. He just walks away? Weird.
Unnamed drugs.
Don’t you just love it when you see a somber commercial about someone who appears to be suffering from an illness – only to find out it’s a pitch for a drug that MIGHT help relieve the symptoms? Problem is that they don’t tell you what the illness is nor do they describe the symptoms. But, hey, ask your doctor about this drug!! Why? I have my doctor who listens when I speak about what bothers me and takes the necessary actions and then prescribes the proper meds. I don’t need to ask him for something that I “MIGHT or MIGHT NOT” need just because it’s in a commercial.

I could go on and on about the commercials that I probably carelessly place in the moronic category but come on, really?
Do the people in advertising really think the entire human race is comprised of idiots?
If they’re not sure just how intelligent we are (or are not), give us the benefit of the doubt. Treat us like we actually have working brains. (Although I am aware of some … another matter) You can make commercials humorous without making us look like a bunch of buffoons.
Okay, I think I’ll step off my soap box now. It’s lunch time and I’ll fix myself something I haven’t seen in a commercial. (hopefully).
