You won't always be worse than everyone else

That year, she also cut in line in the countryside, her thin body under heavy farm work. One day, she was busy in the watermelon field, someone called her to the past, said the propaganda team to recruit students, to try.

After this attempt, she went to Beijing University of Foreign Studies and became a student in the English department. However, had not had time to rejoice, the haze enveloped my heart. In the class, she actually has two "most" : one is the oldest - old girl; One is the worst grades -- the foundation is too weak.

One day in class, the teacher asked a very simple question, the first time did not understand, the second time understand but do not know how to answer, so, frozen in the classroom. After class, she ran to the hillside in the backyard and had a good cry.

"What's the big deal, is not worse than others, I can not work hard?" Finally, she made a promise to herself: "I must be the best student!" She is very diligent, every night till late at night, at four or five in the morning to throw out the bed. No matter the weather is hot or cold, in the corner of the campus under the big tree, often can see her figure. Read aloud, aloud back, the first day to learn things over and over, do not remember to do not give up.

Four years passed in a flash. By the time she graduated, she was indeed the top student in her class. At that generation, she was totally different from today, because she had no autonomy in choosing her career. After graduating from the English department, she was assigned to the British Embassy as an operator. The work was monotonous, tedious and troublesome. In the eyes of outsiders, or a very unpromising work. At first she was able to work honestly, but as time went on she became more and more depressed and unbalanced -- how could a top student in a grand foreign court be so humbled? Finally, in a meeting with her mother, she poured out her grievances.

Her kindly mother said nothing, but told her to wash the toilet and scrub the toilet, and she listened glumly. However, she tried hard to sweep the floor, hard to brush the toilet, repeated several times, feeling is not clean. "I can't help it," she complained. "That's it!" Mother does not talk, but to get a bowl of dry ash, and then dry ash sprinkled in a dirty and wet place, let dry ash will water blot, then sweep, the effect is really good a lot. Not LONG, THE YELLOW BILGE IN CLOSEstool disappeared completely, as if made whitening face mask.

What she didn't do, mother did. She could not help praising her mother, but her mother told her, "You don't have to do one thing; If you do it, do it with your head and go all out. You can't pick your job, but you can choose to do it well." Standing aside, she listened to her mother's words for a long time.

When she returned to work, she seemed a different person. She knew by heart the names of all the people in the embassy, their phone numbers, the scope of their work, even the names of their families. More than that, she was entrusted with informing, conveying and relaying many official and private matters in the embassy. Gradually, she became a message desk, a secretary. In her spare time, she studied foreign newspapers and novels to improve her reading and translation skills. She became a popular person in the embassy because of her warmth and skill.

One day, the British ambassador came to the telephone room, leaned against the door, and said to her with a smile: "Do you know that the people I have contacted have congratulated me recently, saying that I have a British girl as an operator? How surprised they were when they learned that the operator was a Chinese girl!" The British ambassador himself came to the telephone to praise an operator, a first for an embassy!

Before long, she was so good at her job that she went to work as a translator for The Daily Telegraph. The chief reporter was an old lady of great repute, decorated and made a Lord, with great skill and temper, and had banished her former interpreter. When she transferred, the old lady did not believe her strength, made it clear that she would not, and later reluctantly agreed to try. Unexpectedly, a year later, the old lady often said to others with pride: "My translation is ten times better than yours." Later, she was sent to England to study international relations at the London School of Economics, a master's degree in linguistics at Leeds University, and a PhD at London University. After returning to China, she worked as a lecturer, associate professor, professor and vice president of China Foreign Affairs University, and won many awards from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

She is Ren Xiaoping. In the past ten years, she has served as the Press Counselor and spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in Australia, Deputy Director of the Translation Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Chinese Ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda. Currently, she is the Chinese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Namibia.

From a child to a plenIpotentiary AMBASSADOR, EVERY step OF REN Xiaoping'S career has been organized. However, wherever she was assigned, she was actively adapting and striving to do her job well and best. Ren Xiaoping's life experience tells us: When a person can't choose his own job, there is always one choice -- do it well! Whenever and wherever, do the work well and success will not be far behind.
