Nigerian actress Toyin Abraham is currently still in promotion mode for her upcoming movie Ijakumo (The Born Again Stripper). As you can already guess from the title, there are some scenes in this movie that will be raunchy and some that will demand scenes in a church. To shoot the church scenes though, Toyin Abraham decided not to do it inside a real church, and now, during an interview with Arise News, she's explaining why. Here's what Toyin Abraham had to say about her decision.

Speaking first a little bit about the movie, Toyin Abraham said:

I actually had a dream about this story "Ijakumo". I was supposed to shoot another movie, we were even supposed to shoot the following week, but I slept and I now saw it. I saw it in my dream and then I told my people. They were angry because we made preparation for the other story, but I said to them that this is what I want to shoot. "Ijakumo (The Born Again Stripper)" is actually a story that even if you read it, when all my crew read it, they said "Toyin, where did you get this story from?" I said it was a dream, they said it has to be a dream. It's a story that's very dear to my heart. In fact, it was rated when censor board saw it, but I don't mind. I'm happy. Because for me to tell my story very well, there are some things I need to do.

Speaking about shooting the church scenes for the movie, Toyin Abraham explained:

There is something in the movie that has to do with church so I didn't shoot in a church. I had to get an event center which I had to build into a church. Because my mum is a pastor, I know what it is. There are some scenes you can't shoot in the church just to respect God. The story is about a pastor. As I usually say, a lot of people, we don't worship God anymore. We worship our pastors. We worship our Imams. And as I say, you cannot go to church to worship these people because they are human. They will make mistakes. Then moreover, is everybody called by God? Like my industry, I'm an actress, I love acting. I enjoy it. I have passion for it. Even when I was paid peanuts before I met Filmone who changed my life, I can tell you categorically that I got paid peanuts. But because of the passion I have for it, I still stick to the job. So some people are they there for the money or are they there cuz God called them? And again I usually tell people to be careful of things we do. Because sometimes things we do will definitely come back to us even years back.

What do you think about Toyin Abraham's decision not to shoot the church scenes inside a church, and also what do you think about her reasoning around it as well? Let me know your thoughts by leaving a comment either below or on my Jide Okonjo Facebook post.
