Two blockbuster Nollywood productions, Battle on Buka Street, and the Netflix series Far From Home, came out around the same time towards the end of last year. I watched Battle on Buka Street in cinema and I remember that when Mike Afolarin showed up on screen, all people kept on saying was "ah ah is that not Ishaya?", and then when people saw Moshood Fattah, it was like "ah ah, did Funke just pack all the 'Far From Home' actors into this film?"

Well, during a new interview, Funke Akindele is now revealing why she actually cast both Moshood Fattah and Mike Afolarin from 'Far From Home' in her movie, Battle on Buka Street. Here is what Funke Akindele had to say about her thought process with casting both men.

Speaking about why she cast Mike Afolarin, Funke Akindele said:

FUNKE AKINDELE: Mike Afolarin, I have worked with him on 'Far From Home' where he played my son. Mike is a very deep actor. His expressions, wow! I told him I would like you to play this, I would like you to do something else, and they gave it their all.

Speaing about why she cast Moshood Fattah, Funke Akindele said:

FUNKE AKINDELE: I remember Moshood Fattah. I met him on the set of 'Far From Home', such a pleasant young man. I love him so much. I was always calling him my son, that we would work together. When the opportunity came to work with newbies, with new kids on the block, we reached out to Moshood Fattah and I told him, can you sing? Oya sing one or two of your stage performances, and he sings. I said okay, I will like you to sing in this movie, can you just record yourself singing? We told like four, five actors. Moshood was quick! You know, I told Moshood now, in the next three hours, Moshood had sent in the video of him singing, acting, everything. I'm like this guy is so dedicated. And there was this other young guy who was delaying. I'm like, I will go for Moshood. Everytime I told Moshood to come, he came. Like four, five times. He came down, we saw, we spoke. Be dedicated!

It is good to see Funke Akindele casting thse newer faces and giving people who are doing good work more jobs and opportunities to put their talents out there. Both of these men di a fantastic job in Far From Home, and also really delivered in the movie Battle on Buka Street. Have you watched either, or both of these movies? If so, what did you think of Mike and Moshood's performances? Also what do you think about what Funke Akindele said about her decision to cast these men?
