Why Can’t Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger Sell Their Pacific Palisades Mansion?

Some say it’s because the celebrity couple tore down a landmark mid century modern home to build the 13,000 square foot estate. And Angelenos are mad.

It could be a far simpler reason according to Market Watch. Listed in 2023 for 32 million, Pratt and Schwarzenegger dropped the price to 19.9 million before taking it off the market completely. Possibly, celebrities and their agents have unrealistic expectations?

At one point, a celebrity’s home was sure to command big offers…Not so anymore:

“In recent years, that playbook seems to have faltered, leaving many of Hollywood’s most famous faces in an uphill struggle to shift their opulent homes. Few stars seem to be immune to this trend, which has affected everyone from Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger to Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck.

According to celebrity real estate broker and “Selling Sunset” star Jason Oppenheim, shifting an A-list home is not what it once was, thanks in large part to one key factor: the cachet of celebrity ownership alone simply doesn’t hold the sway it once did, particularly when it comes to especially pricey properties.”

According to Realtor.com the couple purchased this property for a little over 15 million in 2018 before demolishing the structure and building a “luxurious custom mega mansion.”

What Is the Right Price for a Mansion in Pacific Palisades?

Here’s a bargain: This nearly 4000 square foot brand new home is listed at a little over five million:

I know it might feel cramped compared to Chris and Katherines gigantic home, but honestly, do you really need 13,000 square feet to feel happy in a home?

I sure don’t. Would take this one in a heart beat. But I have to admit; five million is still to steep. Have to be able to sleep at night in the elegant primary suite which encompasses a “private retreat featuring vaulted wood-beam ceilings and a fireplace.“

Maybe this 2400 square foot listing at a mere 4 million with a koi pond. Even if you can’t be a celebrity, you will feel like one in the cozy abode:

I like the idea of a secluded hideaway. But I am starting to think maybe the entire area is a little too rich for me. Maybe Nevada is more my speed? I don’t know. Even there, your dollar doesn’t stretch as far as most people would like.

Midwest anyone? Maybe not as glamorous as Southern California. But you can rest easy at night, even though shoveling snow does get old after a while.
