What I Found Shocking about Angelina Jolie’s Mansion Listed at Nearly 30 Million
The property is nothing short of phenomenal…I just noticed one little thing that you can fix!
This 11,000 Square foot Las Feliz, CA abode sits on more than two lush acres. As you tour the residence, you can almost feel the presence of old Hollywood royalty.
Jolie supposedly purchased the estate for 24.5 million in 2017 right after her divorce from Brad Pitt. Rumor has it that the actress is leaving the United States for good…And leaving this masterpiece behind?
Well, maybe a chateau in the south of France might be an upgrade, but likely not much of one. Simply put, this place is stunning.
But I did find a surprising addition to the backyard, which I know was not there when the house was built back in 1913…A freestanding hot tub. Not a built in spa integrated into an enormous pool. There is a pool. But this hot tub is not attached. In fact, it looks like one of those spas you see advertised on TV.
Granted it’s submerged halfway into a wooden deck. But if you wanted to, I bet you could buy the very same model at a warehouse store in any town in America. And you too could take a soak underneath an oak tree, just like Angelina likely has.
Other than that slight anomaly, the landscaping adheres to those legendary grounds, and so does the rest of the house. Angelina seems to have paid homage to the historic nature of this residence and didn’t change a lot.
The home is definitely updated, but not gutted or transformed into something unrecognizable.
According to this Realtor.com article, it may not be the south of France where Jolie is headed:
"I grew up in this town. I am here because I have to be here from a divorce, but as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave," she said at the time.
"When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, safety. I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place can be … that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here. [After Los Angeles,] I’ll spend a lot of time in Cambodia. I’ll spend time visiting my family members wherever they may be in the world."
Cambodia? Nothing wrong with that country, but it might be difficult to find a stately mansion like this one in the tropics. A beach bungalow perhaps? Something less massive and a little more cozy, I suspect.
Comparable Homes for Less Money
Maybe the actress’s Los Feliz home is a little out of your price range. I get it. How about this 6,000 square foot Spanish style estate listed at just under 4.4 million?
It is newer (built in 1928) and nicely updated. I might renovate the green and yellow bathroom, and maybe change the flooring in the kitchen. But other than that, this is one lovely home, just waiting for the right buyer.
I kind of like the one purple bathroom. Like I said, it needs the right buyer.
Now this 1926 hillside retreat with tremendous views is more my speed. Listed at 1.6 million and measuring around 1800 square feet, it is more affordable for sure.
The fireplace needs a little work, but the hardwood floors are to die for. I don’t know how many celebs live in the Los Feliz neighborhood, but you might be able to rub elbows with them when you frequent the quaint shops in the downtown area.
I can’t tell if those stores are walkable from this house, but that would be a plus for me. I know LA is a car-loving city, but that might be changing.
If I were Angelina Jolie, I would stay put in Los Feliz. But clearly she is much more adventurous than me.
