It's Simi's year.

As devastating, shocking, annoying, horrendous this year has to been to so many around the globe, for a lucky few, the year has also been a blessing. Despite the turmoil caused by the current pandemic, babies have still been born. Promotions have still been awarded. People have still hit some incredible milestones.

One artiste that's been having a whirlwind year is Nigerian crooner, Simi, the hitmaker behind smash singles such as Jamb Question, Love Don't Care, and Mind Your Business this year revealed that she was pregnant in the now over 6 million times viewed music video for her smash hit song that went on to become the #1 most played Nigerian song upon its release, Duduke.

Earlier this month, on June 7th to be precise, Simi took to her Instagram to reveal that she had given birth to a bouncing baby daughter, her first-born, named Adejare Kosoko who she fondly called Deja in her touching Instagram post revelation.

In the post which features a picture of her husband, Adekunle, kissing their baby's hand, Simi wrote:

Adejare Kosoko.

It's like free-falling - this unending, soul snatching, infinite, mind-boggling love.

Deja, my baby girl, I got you. We got you. I promise. Now and forever. So help me God. ❤️ 5.30.2020

The singer announced the pregnancy in her music video for Duduke, which if you haven't watched, is a beautifully shot music video for a beautifully sung song.

In celebration of the song, a #DudukeChallenge was started all over Instagram and TikTok. This challenge called forth many people including some top names in the Nigerian entertainment industry to take videos of themselves dancing, mostly with their baby bumps, to the hit song, Duduke. A lot of big names took up the challenge and participated in the challenge. Names like Simi herself, Mercy Johnson Okojie, actress Juliet Ibrahim, Regina Daniels, even Big Brother's Frodd came together and they danced in celebration of the song and the joy of pregnancy. Here is a compilation of some of the best videos from the Duduke Challenge.

Over the last week, a video has been trending and it is being circulated all over social media. In the video titled "Watch As Simi Dances With Her Baby Duduke And Adekunle Gold", we see a clip of Simi dancing and playing happily with a baby as well as other fun clips of her dancing, singing, and playing with her husband, Nigerian heavyweight musician, Adekunle Gold.

Here's the really cute viral video:

Upon further inspection though, it is evident that this baby she's dancing with isn't her own baby, Adejare Kosoko. In fact, the baby in the video appears to be her god-son. Still, this didn't stop the video from being circulated and it didn't stop the waves of "Congratulations" and blessings that followed after people saw the clip. It is a really cute video.

We're so happy for Simi and we wish her continued joy and happiness as she journeys through this path called motherhood and continues to bring us joy through her music.

THAT'S ALL.
