UPDATE: Oladips is Alive, Faked Everything (Full Story)

I'm completely short of words

By Jide OkonjoPublished 3 years ago • 3 min read

Wow, in my many years blogging and being a consumer of the news and pop culture, I have not been as disgusted, ashamed, and upset as I am now in another human being. I don't want to waste time so without further ado, let me jump right in.

On the 14th of November, it was announced through his social media that Nigerian rapper, Oladips had passed away. The note read:

We are saddened to inform the general public that Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji aka OLADIPS has passed away yesterday Nov 14th Tuesday evening,at exactly 10:14pm. We are still in shock as we speak!

For over 2 years he has kept his battles within himself, his body is now with his family & funeral services will be announced as soon as it is concluded! The family asked that we respect their privacy in this trying time. May God give us all the fortitude to bear this great loss.(amen).

I even made a post because of how surprised I was that the last song he released before his death was called "Die Young" and the lyrics basically were written almost as if he knew he was about to die. The lyrics said in part:

(I don't wanna die young) / Listen / People compete with the living and care for the dead / World people they'll watch you beg for the bread / When you make it or you die is when they care for a friend / Bandwagon, everybody jumps on the trend. damn! / "That was my friend he was a cool guy / One of the best talents that I know, he good die / Wait let me post his picture on my story and my page / So the world can see my agony and my pain." / Reality check, this is everyone's reality / This song is the truth and for clarity / Everybody dey fight their own demons on a daily basis / That is the excuse for our serenity / I really wish that we do nice things to ourselves cuz we are all we've got / What is the point of showing love to a good person when they're not with us

So I hope that I will get my flowers before I lose my powers and everything that makes me a human (being) / Free! Yes I'm free, I just wanna live / I'm expressing how I feel / I don't wanna leave (I don't wanna die young) / Breathe, make I breathe / I just wanna live / I dey practice what I preach, I don't wanna leave / Oluwa jowo make I no die before my time / Make I no die before I shine

Now, cut to the day and Oladips has taken down the initial post he made announcing his death, and has posted on his Instagram story, a video of him with the tag "proof of life".

This is one of the most disgusting things I have ever seen in my life and I am short of words. Oladips faked his death. I cannot believe this boy did this all to promote an album, and promote his music. You lied to the world, had people grieving, for PROMO! Tufiakwa, this is DISGUSTING!

What do you think about this stunt pulled by Oladips? Let me know your thoughts by leaving a comment either below or on my Jide Okonjo Facebook post.
