Tonight was the night she was going to meet her future husband, she was sure of it. He was perfect, at least as far as she could tell from his picture on the dating app. His eyes were a mischievious blue and his smile was more of a playful smirk. He had a boyish charm about him, but his button up shirt and suit coat displayed a confidence and power that she found sexy in her men. No he wasn't the first, and he probably wouldn't be the last. Patrice had unfortunetly been widowed more times than any thirty something should have been. Her last husband had been killed in a shooting accident while he was out hunting with his buddies. Her husband before him was her highschool sweet heart and he passed away while they were on vacation celebrating his most recent promotion. Patrice tried not to let the past bring her down. She was going on a date tonight with Dr. Alex Hartte.

After meeting him online she made sure to do her research. A beautiful young blond woman, recently widowed, moving to the big city for a fresh start, needed to make sure she wasn't meeting just anyone. It was a matter of safety. She found his professional biographay on the hospital website. It turns out that Dr. Hartte is a very ambitious and sucessful medical surgeon. He had gone from highschool straight to college and completed his doctorate top of his class. He came highly recommended by his colleagues and patients. He liked wine, particularly a good merlot and enjoyed jazz music. His other personal social media accounts showed him with a guitar in his hand and his hair a little bit more disheveled. His posts were mostly of him and his beagle, Rex. The dog was cute. He had no relationships prior and he was new to the dating scene. When they spoke over email he said he was a little nervous, his work had been his life for so long and now he was trying to make time for a personal life. She assured him that they would have a good time and he could show her around the city since she was new to town and he had been here his whole life. They agreed to finally meet tonight at a fine restaurant known for their selections of wine and desserts. She couldn't be more excited.

She was staying at a high end hotel in the thick of the city. She wanted to see it all before she made a decision to move here, the lights, the nightlife, the food, all the attractions. She looked out her window and watched as the cars rushed around beneath her like little ants. The world was so big, there was so much to see and experience. She was sure her handsome doctor could show her all of it. She began to get ready. The anticipation of the night making her smile. She slipped into a short red strappy dress and peakaboo heals. She put on a delicate necklace with a golden heart and curled her long blond hair and let it flow down her shoulders. She looked in the mirror as she applied her makeup. It took her a half an hour easily and finished with the dark red lipstick to match her dress. She puckered her lips, grabbed her black leather jacket and her studded black clutch before she met her Uber driver outside the lobby.

The drive was uneventful, there was some small talk exchanged, but Patrice really didn't care to have a conversation with the man, she just wanted to meet her future husband and have a wonderful adventurous night with the handsome and rich doctor. Once outside the restaurant she tipped the driver and got out of the car. She confidently struted into the restauraunt. The lights were dim and the ambiance was perfect. The smell of delicious food wafted through the air. She looked around to find her prey, there he was, standing at the bar, setting up a wine tasting to start their evening. He looked so charming and innocent. She smiled and waved as she walked over to him and gave him a hug.

"Dr. Hartt, I presume," Patrice chimed.

"Patrice, nice to finally meet you in person. Please, just call me, Alex. Your pictures don't do you justice."

"Aww, thank you. You look very handsome this evening."

"Thank you. Based on our conversations I have set us up with a series of reds to try."

The sommelier introduced himself as Andrew and began explaining the wines in the flight and the order in which they should be consumed.

"May we get a charcuterie board to go along with our flights?" Alex asked the sommelier.

"Of course sir."

Moments later the charcuterie came out and they snacked on the meats and cheeses while they sipped their wine. They spoke only briefly of their pasts leaving out anything that was to embarassing to share on a first date, but focused more on what kinds of music they each enjoyed and their goals for the future. Patrice listened to Alex as he talked about how much his work ment to him and how passionate he was about helping people. She found his kindness to be endearing. Kind generous people usually loved to please their partners and she saw this as a good sign. He told a couple of medical humor jokes that were not really that funny to her because she had never worked in the medical field nor cared to, but laughed hartily just the same. He was cute and mildly funny so she could tolerate some badly placed jokes.

The waiter came to escort them to a table that had been prepared for them. It was a small and intimate table near the back corner of the room. There was a small tea candle in the center and the cloth napkins were shaped into hearts. The waitress wore all black her dark hair up in a ponytail, carrying a bottle of merlot.

"Good evening, my name is Ginny. May I interest you in a sample of our finest Merlot?"

"Please," Patrice replied with a sugary sweet smile.

"Yes please," Alex responded.

Ginny poured them each a small taste and waited for their responses. Patrice and Alex looked over at each other and smiled.

"We'll take a bottle of that," they replied simultaneously.

Ginny chuckled, "I'll be right back with your wine."

Patrice was feeling good. She had drank the entire wine flight and was ready for a couple more glasses of wine to keep her in a sexy kind of mood. They both liked jazz and they both liked Merlot, that was a good start. She couldn't wait to see how he kissed, but that would be later after dessert or as part of it. Alex seemed to be enjoying himself. He was smiling and laughing. He was actually very enjoyable company for a man that didn't get out much. Patrice didn't know what she was expecting, but she was having more fun than she initially thought. Sometimes first dates could be boring or awkward, but not with Alex it was just seemless fun.

Ginny came back with the bottle of Merlot, poured them each a healthy glass and they toasted to a night filled with wonderful adventures.
