On Attention: How Many Social Approvals Are There In My Post?
This article was originally published at rochizalani.com Attention, I believe, is the most pricy commodity economically and psychologically. There is always some website that wants your attention (economic) and there is always something you should rather give your attention to (psychology).

I've spent time throughout the years reading feel-good anecdotes on the Internet about the good Samaritans of the world, saving lives, helping those in need, and working towards a greater good. As someone who is, as weird as it is to admit on a Good Deed thread, a Hobbesian, I can acknowledge and truly appreciate those people who chip away at my belief. Though I have had the privilege of experiencing and witnessing some incredible acts of generosity, I wanted to talk about a truly small and understated deed that I have found went a long way for me and something I've tried to incorporate into my good habits. Mass texts.
The Fetishization of Black Women on Tik Tok
There has been an increase of Tik Tok videos where a lot of non-black men are declaring their love of black women in a mostly cringey manner. This trend sparked after numerous black men would make videos bashing black women in favor of other races and using the excuse of it just being their "preference."
Why I Deleted Tik Tok
It started when quarantine did. My university had basically just told us all to go the fuck home. Immediately. I was crying in the club- aka, my bed- as I tried to reason out whether I wanted to go home to a less than ideal environment, stay on a practically deserted campus, or run off into the distance barefoot and get a head start on the apocalypse. Thrown into the depths of worry and despair, I opened up tik tok.

I generally consider myself a kind and selfless person when it comes to anything. I'm the type of person to rather keep my plate full over another's if I could help it. I've always hated the idea of burdening others or inconveniencing them, and so I've always kept my issues to myself and have always made sure to treat others with kindness.
dani janoloPublished 3 years ago in HumansWho are you without social media?
The internet has seen a drastic hit in censorship as we kick off this new year. We rely on social media for many things whether it’s information, creativity, business or personal, it’s our way of connecting in this new digital age. But as we’ve seen how quickly and easily Big Tech can flip the switch, social media can be taken down in an instant. Heck, there might as well be a new meaning behind “INSTAgram”. So, it got me thinking the question, who are you without social media?

Living a Smartphone-less Life: Most of us have seen Netflix’s The Social Dilemma, so I will spare the lecture on why you should say goodbye to your smartphone. There is something up though – how can it be that despite a general awareness of their negative effects, smartphones continue to mindlessly consume our lives? Of course, this question may seem as useless as asking why a smoker doesn’t ‘just quit smoking’. Yet, there appears to be an illusion that, in today’s world, you can’t get by without one. Having spent half a year with my £1 MobiWire, I intend to dispel this myth. Think of smartphones as like your crazy ex – when you’re with them you think you rely on them, but as soon as they’re gone, you realise you didn’t need them after all. Here are all the aspects of a smartphone that you most definitely can live without.:

It is no secret that social media has taken hold of our every day lives. New platforms are constantly popping up and gaining traction even when we thought the marketplace was already saturated. It started over a decade ago when Facebook stepped in and started targeting loyal Myspace users, who soon joined the social network which dominates today. Ah yes, remember good old Tom, our first digital “friend.”
Jenna GleespenPublished 3 years ago in HumansLong Live The Dreamers
What is it about some people that they seem incapable of believing in or supporting good things? I posted on my Twitter yesterday about a dream I had which included a man I'd been involved with intimately over the last almost three years but was not—and still am not (yet)—in a relationship with. Those of you who are like me and can not only dream in color but are able to remember your dreams will understand how real this dream felt to me.
Meg Thee TigerPublished 3 years ago in HumansSocial Networks Fight Against Fake News
According to modern research and statistics, over half of social media users accept that they come across fake news on a daily basis on different platforms. What is more alarming is that over a quarter of these users have liked or shared a post on their timelines, without realizing that the news is fake.
Usama KamraPublished 3 years ago in HumansSocial Media is ruining our lives.
I’ve been waiting for this for years now and now I am finally ready to give it up even though I deleted Instagram and made another one only for positive platforms it’s still a pain. Just like so many of us, I have been hiding underneath social media for years it has controlled my thoughts, the way I view myself, relationships, and my mental health. I know social media can be good but in my opinion, it’s more bad than good, I mean in all honestly how many “good” things do you see versus the bad? Social media was made for one reason and that was to take us away from reality and glue us to a world that doesn’t even exist. I recommend watching the social dilemma on Netflix if you haven’t already. Social Media is bad for the soul because it doesn't nourish us, it stripes away from who we are. If it were up to me, I would only let the world have access to it for only maybe 3-4 days out of the week, but we all know that’s not going to happen, it makes too much money.

Like most Americans today I am anxiously awaiting my promised stimulus check. At a time where the world is upside down, along with our finances, many of America's people needed the financial boost that the stimulus would provide. As with everything they do, the IRS was very vague as to who would receive the stimulus checks via direct deposit first or the algorithm of which they use to send to the banks. Due to the lack of information A lot of people have taken to social media, blogs, and whatever online thread they can find to compare notes.
