Chapter 2 Glenn Jenkins

Yes, he had helped unseat Democrats; block Democrats and defeat a piece of legislation or pass a bill. Changing public opinion at any cost, and winning elections is what they did from behind the scenes. The Jenkins had been a part of the grand old parties go to team for more than three decades. They were a family dynasty loyal only to them and the ****.

Even though you never saw them you knew their work, their involvement was obvious. He and his father had a special relationship with the police departments and the Sheriff’s around the three states that they operated in. It was a blanket immunity.

Being selected as chief of police meant you had to have the right mayor in place. The sheriff would have to run for reelection. The Jenkins family would help them at election time. They were able to flow through those states with complete immunity from being stopped, questioned or har-assed. They had what most people could only dream of; they truly had a get out of jail free card. They were creating havoc across the country they would incite riots, lynching’s, cross burnings, murder, voter intimidation and strike busting.

They were able to move freely without any problem from the police. Because many of those same sheriffs used them when they needed fundraising for reelected or when their deputies were in a jam or they themselves were in a jam. Many of those same Sheriff’s attended meetings and rally’s and were members of the ****.

Most local police departments were tied politically to the mayors. This all tied right back to the Jenkins being able to flow through the states they wanted without any interference by the police. They were able to deliver alcohol during prohibition. They delivered guns, drugs and literature on the ****. They would remove an occasional body.

When Glenn was fundraising, he would at times have thousands of dollars on him to deliver to a campaign. Yet he roamed the state freely without fear, because of the protection he had. He and his father used that immunity every way they could, and they bled every nickel they could from it.

They had sacrificed a lot to be part of those two organizations. They felt entitled to and deserved certain things. That get out of jail free card for their contribution to this country was what they felt they deserved. If you needed to get guns from Pennsylvania to Ohio and needed those guns to arrive on time, there was only one way to do it.

Glenn could get it done for you as his father had taught him all the in’s out’s. The protection they had from all the police and law enforcement in those three states would make a president jealous. In the early years, it was Everett Jenkins contacts that kept them busy and his friends in the printing business.

See, he was responsible for distributing literature to most of the chapters scattered across those three states. Just like his father Glenn had someone on the payroll at all times connected to the printing press. It was a family business. Promoting and starting chapters, recruiting members for the grand old party and the **** was all part of their work.

Glenn was not quite as good as his father but nevertheless when it came to recruiting there was no one else like them. He would take a crowd and fill it with hate like it was an art form. He would have them eating out of his hand when he was done. They would believe every lie that he spoke, they were hanging on his every word.

Whipping a crowd into a frenzy was an art form that he was expert at it. He would slowly steer the conversation from your everyday struggles to poli-tics. Then Glenn would slowly lean into the fact that it was going to take people like you and him to fix it.

He would spread the same hate fueled speeches so many times that he could recite it in his sleep. He would say it is the ******* man that is taking your job and just like the ******** have been slowly destroying our neighborhoods. It is the ******* man slowly breeding with our ***** women deluding the purity of the American children. It is the ******* man and ******** ruining the neighborhoods. They are taking down the price of your home.

He would convince that entire crowd that all the woes in the world were caused by the ******* people and the ********. He would tell them how ***** people are losing their jobs their everyday way of life to the ******* people and ********. He would tell you how our religious freedoms are being trampled. How the ******** Church is taking over the world.

He would say everybody needed to do their part for this country and ***** American values. He would be saying it with such passion you would hang on his every word as if your life depended on it. He would convince you that the soul of this country is in your hands and your hands alone, and it is up to you to save us.

He would tell you how your children would not have an America by the time the ******* people were done eating at the heart of America. Social-ism was going to come in and take over. That we would all be nothing more than puppets for the amusement of the government. He would tell you how America needs patriots like you right now.

If you gave the same speech in an area where unemployment is extremely high, opportunities are extremely low, and you point to someone and blame them for all the pain in your life, you got them hook, line and sinker. When you look at what the Jenkins family did for the grand old party and the **** it is not any different than what they have always done.

These were not unintelligent people. These were elected officials, police officers, members of the church, highly educated individuals all willing to ignore truth. They would buy into the lies and rhetoric, the hate, the racism being spread by the Jenkins and other people around the country just like them. They were willing to look at another human being and judge them by their ***** not by their character.

Glenn was in the lower part of West Virginia. He and his father had planted the seeds down there many years ago about the ****. They would stop by and drop off pamphlets that told the story of how the country was being ruined by invaders. It would say how white America needed to stand up for this country.

Glenn was saying how this country deserved to be ***** and not ruined by the ****** of races. When he was just out on a regular recruiting trip like he had done many of times he ran across a young man name Robert Byrd. It was around 1941. Robert Byrd was about 24 at the time. Glenn could tell he was hanging on his every word; he could tell he had him hooked. Before you know it, Robert Byrd was in 100%. To be clear Glenn and his father had gone their whole lives without doing any business with a Democrat. Nothing was changing, Robert Byrd was not a Democrat or Republican that they could tell at the time. He was just a young man asking questions about the ** **** ****.

When they were recruiting for the **** your politics, policies or beliefs did not matter. On **** business, they could work with Democrats if the work did not help them get into office. Now we all know senator Robert Byrd has apologized time and time again for his part in the ***. He has read statements repeatedly saying that was the biggest mistake he ever made in his life, joining the ****.

Senator Byrd has stated from the Capitol floor and in countless interviews that his involvement with the *** is by far his biggest regret. He has stated the same in a book.

Having said all that Glenn and the **** still considered senator Robert Byrd a success. They looked at it differently than everybody else. They now knew it was possible to recruit someone moving forward with a political life. They looked at it as a trial run and to them it could not get any better. Glenn and the clan consider Robert Byrd one of the most successful **** members ever. Glenn felt proud that Senator Byrd worked for a ***** America for more than 12 years.

During his time with the **** there were parades and cross burnings. There was intimidation of ***** people, ******** and ****. ***** Americans were treated as if they were a disease in the country, they called home, and all at the hands of good ***** Americans. Robert Byrd was one of those people who spread the word of hate.

People were ******* and killed due to the spreading of those lies of the white *********. The *** terrorized ***** communities across this nation. Many people were whipped into a frenzy by members of the **** with lies and bigotry. In the state of West Virginia 28 ***** American citizens died by *******. Their only crime was the color of their skin. In the state of Ohio 16 ***** lives have been lost at the hands of ********. In the state of Pennsylvania 6 ***** lives have been lost to ********, fellow human beings judged by their *****.

See, for 12 years Robert Byrd was one of the most successful recruiters in West Virginia. Those very same people elected him to office. He walked hand in hand with them knowing they were members of the **** until the very moment he was sworn in, according to him.

To Glenn and every other member of the **** Robert Byrd was still one of them. They had no doubt in their minds. After President Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act, then Senator Byrd was sworn in and he stood on the House Floor to oppose the Amendment. For more than 14 hours he stood there to block the vote on the Civil Rights Bill.

To Glenn and the **** that was a clear message that he stood with them. It was a victory for **** America. No matter how many times Senator Robert Byrd said that he denounced the **** to all of them they had a victory in Robert Byrd.

If you asked the ***** community in West Virginia if they felt safer or more comfortable about their life now after Robert Byrd blocked that bill on the Senate floor; I am willing to bet you $100 to a donut their answer was no, we do not feel safer now. Robert Byrd being a member of the **** still af-fects membership today in areas of the state.

The lies and the recklessness of Glenn Jenkins and Robert Byrd spreading those lies for 12 years had rippling aftereffects. The high school bombings that took place in West Virginia in those lower states in 1958. All of the marches by the **** and parades like in Clarksburg, Parkersburg and other cities throughout West Virginia. That violence and bigotry can be contributed to the hate spread by Glenn and the clan seeded by Robert Byrd.

Long after senator Robert Byrd denounced the **** the seeds that he had planted continued to flourish hate and lies throughout West Virginia and America for many years to follow. The **** and Jenkins were so happy with Robert Byrd. He was able to recruit and sign up more than 150 people, enough to create a chapter. He continued to do that for the **** for another 12 years.

Some people in the lower half of the state so much believed in the bigotry and white ******** that they blocked an Amendment to remove from the West Virginia Constitution article XII Section 8, which prohibited white and ***** children from attending the same school.

The people blocked that amendment until 1994 even then, 16 of the lower counties voted no. That is how much Senator Byrd had influenced those counties in those 12 years.

Everybody makes mistakes and Senator Byrd is no different than anybody else. He went on to do a lot of great things for West Virginia. When he be-came the head of the Ways and Means Committee every single dollar, he could get his hands on he sent to West Virginia. He did a lot of great things for this country.
