Even though he had already been in several movies and television shows before this where his performances were praised, he didn’t stand out in any of them as much as he did playing Simon Basset the Duke of Hastings.

It’s like the man was born for this role. Any other acclaimed actor could have played it, but nothing or no one would have been a perfect fit like Mr. Page was for this role.

His portray of the Duke of Hastings has earned him praise, adoration, and adulation from all over the world. It has also earned him more fans evidenced by his increased Instagram followers. From less than 100k by the end of 2020, he now stands at 5.1 Million.

His success at this role will earn him other greater roles in the future and the huge monetary, societal, and fame and fortune perks that come with being a highly sought-after actor.

Pitfalls

Sadly, this also comes with several pitfalls.

There are very many positive stories from the media about Rege-Jean Page right now. And we love them! They make him more beloved and more popular raising his profile altogether. But fame is a slippery slope.

As a super successful black man in Hollywood based on how other eminent black men have been treated in the past, we would not be surprised if they turned the tables and changed the narrative on him. They build you up just to tear you down. Don’t they?

Enormous fame can also lead to the loss of privacy for the individual. On Youtube, you can already find a few paparazzi videos of Mr. Page leaving or going to his engagements. You can also hear the other paparazzo yelling his name for photos with numerous camera flashes blocking his view. And this is just the beginning. All these can be annoying and irritating for anyone.

They say celebrities and the paparazzi have a somewhat symbiotic relationship. They stalk and take pictures of you to spread them which could raise your profile and the public’s interest in you. If they aren’t chasing after you, know that your star has faded or is just about to fade. Mr. Page in this case does not need them. He has managed to get himself at the highest level possible through hard work, dedication, consistency, and his profound talent.

So far it’s not too bad. Even though he didn’t necessarily ask for it, I am pretty sure Mr. Page understands that such instances and stories might come about in the life of a glorified public figure. The problem is, based on past events, the paparazzi and tabloids won’t stop there. If Mr. Page is pictured hugging more than one woman, a tabloid headline might label him a womanizer. If he is seen dining with another one, regardless of the relationship - as if the tabloids will care even- they might give him uglier labels.

As much as we would want to know where he drinks, eats, shops, and lives. As much as we would be interested in knowing where he is going and whom he is dating, we can all agree that we would want the paparazzi to step back.

We already know where it goes from here. Famous stars such as Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Janet Jackson among others have had their worst moments captured by the paparazzi and sold to the tabloids for thousands of dollars. These tabloids then ended up using these pictures and videos to create a public spectacle, to shame and ridicule them causing them incomprehensible pain and suffering as their hurt was thoroughly exploited for huge profits.

We all would want the paparazzi to back off on Rege - Jean Page. We know well enough that if they don’t get any real dirt on him, they will proceed to create and exploit it for profit.

We also want him to live a healthy peaceful life so that he can continue to entertain us with the zeal and zest that only he can. He has brought so much love, unity, and joy to the world so far and we would want to keep it that way. We would want him to be joyful and peaceful too because he deserves not only these but the privacy and freedom to do and live his life as he pleases.

This time around, things are going to be different. We have already witnessed what your meddling does to the people we love and admire and we have had enough!
