P-Square Open Up More About Split

"We're in a healing process"

It is no secret by now that one of the most surprising things to have happened in the last decade in the Nigerian music industry is the splitting apart of pop duo, P Square. Twin brothers, Peter and Paul, split to do their own solo music as Mr. P and Rudeboy, and now they are back together again.

During a new interview, the boys of P Square were asked if they missed each other during their time apart, and were also asked about the narrative people say a lot which is that Afrobeats really took off and a lot of new artistes came into the spotlight because P-Square split up. Here is what the duo had to say about both things.

P Square during interview

During their interview, P Square were first asked: "When you two were apart, did you miss each other?" They responded saying:

P SQUARE: Well the truth is did you miss in terms of physical miss or in terms of music wise. Because the good thing is - let me help you out, people get it all wrong. I don't like answering a past tense question because this is going to go on social media. So we'll just keep it down low, we don't want to talk abut it. We're in a healing process. We just want to leave it. Enjoy music. Don't get it wrong, before it used to be Peter and Paul, P Square. Now it's Mr. P and Rudeboy. We still do our thing, and we still do our thing together. So that way, everybody grab their own respect and sit on it.

"Something people said was when you were apart, Afrobeats was taking over the world and without you PSquare, many Nigerian artistes took advantage of that. What do you have to say to that?"

P SQUARE: Let me tell you, I have been hearing that. Even if they put it that way, then it should mean that someway God has his own way. That means maybe without us, if we were there, those people, there would have never been light for them. And don't forget we have dominated the industry for a long time. We held it down for nearly 14 years, we were up there. In fact, we started travelling around the world, doing the stadiums, doing everything. People fainting, people crying, signing multimillion deals, and whatever. So we've seen it, been there, done that. But like you said "if not for the breakup or whatever", if that's the case, Father Lord thank you very much for making it happen.
