Love it or Hate it, Comedian Jo Koy’s Brutalist Las Vegas Mansion is Listed at 11.25 Million

Jo Koy must be doing OK. Because if he sells his mansion at the asking price, he will walk away with a cool one million dollar profit. The comedian bought the 8200 square foot Brutalist style abode for 10 million three years ago.

I understand. This place is not everyone’s cup of tea. Looking at the outside, you would think you were walking into some kind of warehouse/office park. But saunter inside and whoa. You are hit with sheer extravagance.

From the “tree trunk” spiral staircase to the two story lightbulb statue, Kay has spared no expense. Outside, the infinity pool is set high above the city for a spectacular view from every angle.

I can imagine escaping to my two bedroom guest house after a quick dip, or maybe meditate in the relaxing Zen garden before I turn in.

Jo, invite me, will you? I doubt it considering the master of standup seems to have left Las Vegas.

Realtor.com shows that this listing has been active since March:

I would say “luxurious Zen masterpiece” is an accurate description. I for one, love the Brutalist architectural style. And to me, no house can be “too contemporary.”

I adore clean lines and minimalist detail. While some might walk into Koy’s house and be horrified by the lack of warmth and softness. I would call this my dream house. If only it weren’t priced at more than 11 million.

The home is situated in The Ridges neighborhood which some would say is the wealthiest in Summerlin, a very posh Las Vegas suburb.

These tremendous views are what command a hefty price tag. Still, the “nature meets modern” design is absolutely breath-taking in my mind. After looking at a lot of very traditional celebrity homes in the Los Angeles area, Koy’s compound is a breath of fresh air.

Are There Comparable Homes in the Area for Less Money?

If you, like me, can’t quite cough up the dough for this mega mansion, other similar albeit smaller abodes are available in southern Vegas.

This home in the Tournament Hills neighborhood of Summerlin also boasts a guest house and magnificent grounds, but less of a contemporary style. I would says the 7300 square foot home screams colonial. With those arched entry ways and grand columns throughout. Maybe more Mediterranean and less Brutalist.

It needs a little work, unlike Jo’s place, but at a price tag of 3.5 million, you can afford to hire a contractor and make this your own:

When the listing says “canvas for discerning buyers” it means you need to do some heavy lifting. I would start with the kitchen. Maybe take down the cabinets and replace them with white. I know, you see white cabinets everywhere, but here I think they fit because I get a light and airy vibe when I walk in (viturally of course.)

Leave the (marble?) floors alone and take in that sweeping staircase… You too can call Las Vegas home.
