Top players struggle to win on day 4

The start of day 4 of the Australian Open had some pretty though matches for some top players.

Michelsen - Lehecka:

Current number 23 Jiri Lehecka is out in 4 sets against world number 91 and upcoming talent Alex Michelsen. The American upsets Lechecka in four sets: 4-6 6-3 6-4 6-4. Michelsen will play Alexander Zverev in the next round, Zverev also struggled in his match against Lukas Klein.

Zverev - Klein:

Alexander Zverev, the number 6 seed struggled in his second round match against world number 163. While Klein played some fenomenal tennis, he just lost in a 5 sets thriller with 2 tiebreaks in the fourth and fifth set. Zverev took the first set with 7-5, but Klein striked right back with 3-6 4-6. In the fourth set, a tiebreak needed to decide the set. A lot of pressure for the German and a must win tiebreak. He pushed through and took the tiebreak 7-5. A deciding set was needed and also came down to a tiebreak. This time a 10-point tiebreak. Zverev kept his nerves under control and took it with 10-7. End result: 7-5 3-6 4-6 7-6 7-6.

Purcell - Ruud:

Home crowd favourite Max Purcell got a shot at beating world number 11 and former world number 2, Casper Ruud. In an interesting match between the two players, it came down to a deciding match tiebreak. In the first four sets, there were 3 sets where only one break was needed and 1 tiebreak. In the deciding match tiebreak Casper Ruud came out on top with a 10-7 win. Final score: 6-3 6-7 6-3 3-6 7-6. Ruud will face Cameron Norrie in the third round.

Paul - Draper:

The promising Britt, who won last match while vomitting right after, played against American Tommy Paul. After two sets, the match was tied at 1-1. Unfortunately for the youngster, Paul was too strong in the third and fourth set. Final score: a 6-2 3-6 6-3 7-5 win for Tommy Paul who will play against Kecmanovic in the third round.

Sonego - Alcaraz:

In a thight match between the number 46 and the number 2 of the world, Alcaraz came on top. He needed four sets to go through but it wasn't without a struggle. Two tiebreak were played in this set. After 3:29 hours, the world number 2 found his way into the third round with a final score of: 6-4 6-7 6-3 7-6.

Kecmanovic defeats Struff: 6-4 1-6 7-6 1-6 7-6

Borges defeats Davidovich Fokina: 7-6 6-3 6-3

Griekspoor defeats Fils: 3-6 6-1 7-5 6-4

Dimitrov deafeats Kokkinakis 6-3 6-2 4-6 6-4

Humbert defeats Zhang: 6-2 5-7 6-1 7-6

Interesting matches for day 5:

Mannarino - Shelton (20th seed vs 16th seed)

Djokovic - Etcheverry (1st seed vs 30th seed) Djokovic who lost a set in round 1 and 2 and is struggling with his wrist will have a though match against Etcheverry. The Argentinian didn't lose a single set yet against Andy Murray (former world number 1) and Gaël Monfils. Maybe an big upset is coming. Who knows.
