From my own experience of being in a LDR (Long distance Relationship) here are some ideas to have special moments virtually when we live miles away from your love and in these times this could maybe help with some virtual relationships forced by the pandemic.

1) Cooking date night

Plan a meal you can both prepare and eat together, for example, we take turns in teaching the other person how to cook our signature dishes just like a virtual cooking lesson from your other half. Had so much fun doing this and you have amazing food (hopefully) at the end to eat together. A bit of prep work making sure you have the ingredients needed but it should put a smile on your face and some food in your belly whilst concentrating on your other half.

2) Film Night

An obvious one, but watching a film together. This is an odd one because means at some points you can just see your other half sat there but not talking but you are experiencing something together. Disney Plus has recently sent an email offering a service where you can stream at the same time so if someone pauses it, it pauses the film for both of you. Something to try in the future for sure will stop the game of trying to get your films on at the same time and hearing the time delay too.

3) Snail Mail

This one isn't virtual but sending a good old fashioned written letter is amazing to receive! My other half and I talk a lot when we can but there is something about the written word on paper and having that posted through your letterbox. I guess because it takes effort and thought which is always appriciated.

4) Gifts

Again not a virtual thing but receiving a gift is much like a letter its something physical in a virtual relationship, that has taken effort, thought and money. Though the emphasis is not on the money for me. Whilst I have received expensive gifts and less expensive gifts my most favourite was one of the less expensive due to the multiple thoughts behind the gift. I should note that I have never opened any gift from my fiance that I have not loved. (Lucky :) ) One of the first gifts I received was a brown cardboard box that included a soft toy of his favourite hockey team, chocolate in my favourite flavour, a whole set of bangles from my favourite jewellery store (He listened when I spoke about it once) a letter, one of his old t-shirts sprayed with his cologne sprayed on it, and probably some other items thrown in for good measure. The surprise was for Valentine's day not long after we met so was amazing. Open your gifts in front of your partner on the phone so you can both enjoy the surprise and your delight.

5) Planning / Count Down

Up until this year when we were free to visit each other the time in between was spent discussing future plans and counting down till we get to see each other in real life. Use a count down app, discuss future plans to create lists and goals.

List examples: Films to watch together, Bucket list, places to visit, things to achieve, goals, holidays to name a few

Life Goals: Family, pets, type of house, time frames

6) Playing Games online / Board games

Playing 2 player games online, playing physical board games by having dice or the same game in front of you. This may seem crazy but the small things really go along way and give you quality time together.

7) Open When Box

My favourite gift to give was one that I created and hid in his house before leaving for home. I then called him and told him where he could find it whilst I was on my flight home. Simply a shoebox with a graphic on the box simply saying open when. Instructions inside of when he is allowed to open such envelopes and multiple (as many as you like) envelopes or packages that state open when ........ and then multiple options.

Such as Open when your lonely, when your happy , when you have a good day etc....

Lots more ideas where that came from, continue to be creative and I am sure your partners/ family / friends will appreciate
