BBC Reveals the First Star of Strictly 2026

The BBC officially confirmed Turner as the first celebrity contestant for the 2026 series, marking the beginning of what is expected to be a gradual rollout of celebrity announcements throughout the summer. Fans of the long-running entertainment show have been eagerly waiting for news about the upcoming season, and Turner's name immediately generated buzz across social media.

According to reports, Turner expressed both excitement and nerves about joining the competition. The actress described herself as a huge fan of Strictly and admitted that taking part is a dream opportunity, even if it pushes her outside her comfort zone.

Why Lacey Turner Is a Major Signing

Turner is widely regarded as one of the most recognizable faces on British television. Since making her EastEnders debut in 2004, she has become one of the soap's standout performers, earning multiple awards and critical acclaim for her portrayal of Stacey Slater.

Her popularity makes her a significant addition to the Strictly lineup. Producers are believed to be delighted to have secured her participation after years of speculation about whether she would ever join the show. Reports suggest she had previously declined opportunities because she lacked confidence in her dancing abilities but now feels ready to embrace the challenge.

For viewers, Turner brings a combination of authenticity, humor, and determination that could make her an early fan favorite.

A New Adventure Away From Albert Square

The timing of Turner's Strictly appearance comes as she takes an extended break from EastEnders. This break has allowed her the opportunity to commit fully to the demanding rehearsal schedule required by the competition.

Training for Strictly is known to be physically and mentally demanding, with contestants spending hours each day mastering complex routines. For someone with limited formal dance experience, the journey can be both rewarding and challenging.

However, fans believe Turner's dedication and work ethic could help her thrive in the competition. Many former soap stars have enjoyed success on Strictly, and viewers will be eager to see whether she can follow in their footsteps.

What We Know About Strictly Come Dancing 2026

While Turner is currently the only officially confirmed celebrity from the initial announcement, speculation continues about who else may join the cast. Several well-known television personalities and entertainers have already been linked to the upcoming season.

Reports also suggest that reality TV star Dani Dyer will return to the competition after being forced to withdraw from the previous season due to injury. If confirmed, her comeback would add another compelling storyline to the series.

The BBC is expected to reveal additional contestants over the coming weeks, gradually building anticipation ahead of the show's autumn launch.

Fans React to the Announcement

The response to Turner's casting has been overwhelmingly positive. Social media platforms quickly filled with messages from fans expressing excitement about seeing the actress tackle ballroom dancing.

Many viewers believe her emotional range as an actress could translate well into dance performances, particularly in routines that require storytelling and dramatic expression. Others are simply excited to watch a familiar television favorite take on a completely new challenge.

The combination of her popularity and relatable personality has already led some fans to predict she could become one of the standout contestants of the season.

Could Lacey Turner Go All the Way?

At this stage, it is impossible to know how Turner will perform once rehearsals begin and pairings are announced. Success on Strictly often depends on a mixture of natural ability, determination, chemistry with a professional partner, and public support.

What is clear, however, is that Turner enters the competition with a strong fan base and plenty of goodwill from viewers. If she adapts quickly to the demands of ballroom dancing, she could emerge as a genuine contender for the Glitterball Trophy.
