Art Auctions are Phony

Christy's has announced that it is in financial trouble, the spotlight is on its phony past. Otherwise they could sell a bunch of grapes taped to a dirty discarded box of some sex toy, calling it "The Scrotum of Nature," and some thwarted, some demented sexual alternate for the sweet insiders' #SF Museum Art Club would pay 30 million to launder dirty sex trade money for it? The entire redlining system is like Humpty-Dumpty and is headed for a fall! Begging the query "if they can sell a banana tapped to a canvas and call it meaningful art while denying a legitimate artists' credible award-winning art a listed auction opportunity because the artist has never sold anything at a public auction to establish some phony value? Well, Da! It doesn't take long for a sane person to "Get it!" It's disgusting class "discrimination, and "retribution is at the door!

But let us not bury Caesar...it would be shallow not to offer a alternative:

ART HISTORY ARCHIVE

Who is Oz?

“Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure… than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.” Theodore Roosevelt (1815-1919)

The Art Partnership Oz is a fictional character, but the message is very real and serious. Although I am not involved in fire prevention, my passion is to preserve my art and provide future profit for the small art investors. This can be accomplished by providing educational information for investors, and would-be investors, enabling them to make knowledgeable choices for long term gain.

The catch phrase “Look Before You Leap. The Money You Save May be Your Own.” Remember that this phrase is so much more than just a slogan: It is an important way to care for the family fortune and your pocketbook.

My real name is Welby Thomas Cox, Jr., and I have been an artist/author in the profession for more than 60 years as an artist, author, sculptor, and I even tried film making. I adopted the name The Art Partnership Oz because I wanted a Web address that was memorable, authoritative, but also fun. One of the synonyms for Oz is Magician. The term “Oz” is an informal title for someone who will devote their ability and time to making a dream come true. Someone who is willing to devote their skills to one problem or industry (in this case it would be the safe, security of family wealth through investment in art). Oz has various titles which may include the terms adviser, administrator, or diplomatic messenger.

I was never involved in the sale of art until recently when told by my cardiologist to “get my business in order. Well, my business is very simple since I do not paint for-profit and have never sold a painting. Following the cardiologist’s suggestion, I went to a few galleries to seek guidance on how to go about selling my art. I was shocked to discover that no one would represent me because I had never sold anything on the public record which meant not having auctioned a piece of art. I found this to be oxymoronic, like trying to get a job when you have never worked and have no references...you do not exist!

One of my favorite people in history is someone I once knew and worked for in a brief political campaign, Robert Francis Kennedy who said, “Some see things as they are and wonder why...but I dream of things which never were, and ask why not?” After discovering that I needed to put a “bucket list” together and determining that the art world did not recognize me as an artist, I have decided to come to the public to offer them a partnership in a unique offering which will guarantee the return of investment with profit. (Disclaimer: The individual investor must seek private counsel about taxes which will be due upon gain at time of maturity).

In order to implement the business plan, let me first outline the overview for what I am calling The WTC Art History Archive which is the doing business name of Welby Thomas Cox, Jr. Foundation, Inc., a 501C13 nonprofit foundation. The foundation will offer three forms of memberships as follows:

There are several reasons why I would like to go in this direction. First, it is a bold plan which preserves the artistic and literary integrity of the founder for posterity. It will open an educational component for the advantage of children in the metropolitan area of Louisville, Kentucky. It will offer an onsite art educational feature for challenged children which shall be free of charge. It will offer a unique necropolis for the burial of the family pet and the income from this program will help offset the cost of annual operation.

I have spent most of my adult life as a problem solver, so perhaps I am suited for this job. My full-time occupation was as an innovator, businessman, horseman, investment strategist prepares me to design-build this opportunity for endowment and a lasting tribute to the Cox family legacy.

There is an urgent problem which needs to be addressed and solved in the way our society deals with special needs children for the long term. The original intent of this plan was to not only facilitate the archival of the Cox family assets but to leverage them for and on behalf of the community of children who may be challenged and may be alone, certainly for educational opportunity in the field of art.

The Art Partnership Oz declares we could circumvent the lack of constant excitement living within the community walls if the public understood and appreciated the love, blood, sweat, and tears that went into the art and writing of the books and then to painstakingly record and preserve as well as exhibit to the public. The love of art and literature among community children would grow with aggressive, creative promotion and education. There are millions of folks who simply do not get it. The best way to educate is to build the fan base by fostering a method for the public to become a part of their community-based art and taking ownership as stewards of a piece of one of these inspiring, exciting, motivational works of wonder.
