take responsibility

When it comes to building trust as a parent, you have to make sure that you take ownership of your parenting decisions and take responsibility. No one is going to trust you until they know that you are an accountable person that is willing to take ownership of your mistakes. This means that you must be willing to own up to your past behavior and say everything that you need to in order to gain the trust of people. However, there are certain actions that you can take in order to earn the trust of your children and show them that you are someone that they can trust.

If you want to really learn how to build trust as a parent, then you need to be willing to share everything with your children no matter who is involved. You do not have to be perfect, but you do have to be real with them. Children tend to imitate what they see parents do and if you are constantly doing things like taking ownership of your mistakes and being real with your children, you will gain trust from them.

be open and honest

Being open and honest is also essential if you want people to trust you. When you tell people what you know or what you are passionate about, you will be able to tell them about the right thing to do instead of just saying "it's my decision." It can be hard to let people know the right thing to do sometimes, but if you really want to earn trust from your child or children, then you have to do it. There is nothing worse than telling your child to do something when you don't believe that they truly feel that they should. This will end up in arguments and it is something that you will want to avoid.

take responsibility for your own decisions

To earn trust from people, you need to let people know that you take responsibility for your own decisions. This is especially important if you have made some bad ones in the past. If you let them see that you are responsible for your own actions, then they will be more likely to trust you. If you keep making bad choices, you will build distrust in your life and you will not be trusted by anyone.

consistent with your word

Another way to earn trust when it comes to your convictions is to be consistent with your word. If you only tell your children what you want them to hear, but you never really follow through on what you say, people will lose faith in you. If you are consistent with your words, then people will see that you are genuine. The more of a sincere person that you are, the more faith they will have in you and the more likely they will trust you.

faith

This leads into the concept of faith because if you genuinely have faith in something, then it should be evident to other people. When you tell people that you have faith in them, even if you don't really, they should know that you have faith in them. This shows them that you are not fake and that you are not someone who is only out there to make a few bucks. When you do this, other people will see that you are trustworthy and they will see that you are someone who has a lot to offer.

be positive

Another way to earn trust in yourself and others is to be very positive. People who are negative are usually the people who are trying to pull one over on another person. Someone with a lot of optimism is going to be someone who is believable. If you are someone who is cynical and pessimistic, then other people will think that you are also untrustworthy. Being optimistic and having a lot of hope in the world will make you more believable and therefore, more trustworthy.

be trustworthy

People will be more likely to trust you when they see that you can follow your convictions and that you are willing to be accountable for those convictions. When you are trustworthy, then you won't have to worry about lying or mischaracterizing anything. If you do this, then people will know that you are someone who is serious when it comes to following the rules of society. This is a very important aspect of trust, and if you can show others that you are trustworthy in this way, then you will have found the best way to gain more trust in your life.
